Next Friday! 7-9pm opening reception for âThe Drolatic Dreams of Pantaguelâ Meet the artist - Charlotte Fox AKA Knottie Lottie knottie lottie
For this particular and peculiar collection, Charlotte used the stark
contrast of black thread against white fabric to create the shadows, fine
details, and textures from Richard Bretonâs 1565 publication Les songes
drolatiques de Pantagruel (The Drolatic Dreams of Pantagruel). While there
is still speculation regarding the original woodcut artist - was it François
Rabelais or François Desprez? - there is no doubt that the 120 fantastical
and otherworldly images are a sight to behold. These hand embroidered
pieces feature detailed images that are at once haunting and mesmerizing.
