BREAKING EXPECTATIONS.

Before punk became a worldwide movement, it needed people willing to challenge expectations.

In the mid-1970s, four young women from Los Angeles picked up their instruments, ignored the critics, and proved that punk wasn't reserved for one sound, one style, or one gender. The Runaways didn't just break barriersβ€”they kicked the door off its hinges.

Nearly fifty years later, that same spirit lives on every time someone creates something original, supports local music, or refuses to fit the mold.

That's what the Third Annual Vinylly Vintage Punk Rock Market is all about.

Join us for a day celebrating 50 Years of Punk with live music, local artists, retro gaming, handmade creations, vinyl records, flash tattoos by My Ink Asylum, delicious BBQ from Pit & Platter Food Truck, and a community that continues to keep the DIY spirit alive.

Whether you've been part of punk since the beginning or you're discovering it for the first time, there's a place for you here.

🎸 5 Runaways Facts

β€’ The Runaways formed in Los Angeles in 1975 when the members were still teenagers.

β€’ Joan Jett was only 16 years old when the band released its debut album.

β€’ "Cherry Bomb" became one of the defining songs of the first wave of punk rock and remains an anthem nearly 50 years later.

β€’ The Runaways helped inspire generations of female artists, including members of L7, Bikini Kill, The Donnas, The Distillers, and countless others.

β€’ Their message wasn't about fitting inβ€”it was about proving that passion, attitude, and determination mattered more than anyone else's expectations.

**ANIMAL MOTHER – ARTIST SHOWCASE**

Punk has always belonged to the next generation.

That’s exactly why we’re excited to welcome Animal Mother to this year’s Vinylly Vintage Punk Rock Market.

Hailing from Goderich, Ontario, Animal Mother is a loud, fast, unapologetic protopunk band made up of two brothers and their closest friends. Inspired by The Ramones, The Clash, The Stooges, The Damned, and Agent Orange, they’re carrying punk’s spirit forward for a new generation.

Despite being in their late teens, they’ve already built a reputation across Southern Ontario, bringing their high-energy live show to festivals and venues including StrummerFest, The Crusher Music Festival, Union Waterloo, and Joe Friday’s.

As we celebrate **50 Years of Punk**, there couldn’t be a better band to remind us that punk isn’t just historyβ€”it’s still being written.

Come experience Animal Mother live on **Saturday, August 8**, from **11 AM–4 PM** at **Vinylly Vintage, 88 Britannia Rd. E., Goderich**.

**Keep the Noise Alive.**

🎸 **5 Animal Mother Fun Facts**

β€’ Alongside punk icons like The Ramones and The Clash, Animal Mother also draws inspiration from garage rock pioneers The Sonics, The Kingsmen, and The Animals.

β€’ Animal Mother's love of bands like **The Sonics** shows how deep their appreciation for punk history runs. By drawing inspiration from one of proto-punk's earliest pioneers, they're helping carry that sound into a new generation.

β€’ Their website describes every live performance as "a release," where sweat, volume, and freedom collide.

β€’ Their motto, **"Keep the Noise Alive,"** reflects their mission to carry punk's rebellious spirit into the next generation.

β€’ Every member is still in their late teens, making them one of the youngest bands performing while representing the next chapter of punk's 50-year history.

HOOKED ON HOMEMADE – VENDOR SHOWCASE

Whether you’re looking for something practical, something unique, or simply want to support a local maker, be sure to stop by Hooked on Homemade and see what she’s been working on.

Join us for the Third Annual Vinylly Vintage Punk Rock Market as we celebrate 50 Years of Punk and the independent creators who keep that DIY spirit alive.

πŸ’š 5 Green Day Facts

β€’ Green Day formed in Rodeo, California, in 1987 when Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt were still teenagers.

β€’ Their breakthrough album, Dookie, has sold over 20 million copies worldwide and introduced millions of people to punk rock.

β€’ The poster for Hooked on Homemade is inspired by Green Day’s Ni**od album, released in 1997.

β€’ β€œGood Riddance (Time of Your Life)” was originally considered too different from Green Day’s usual soundβ€”but it became one of their biggest songs.

β€’ Before signing to a major label, Green Day built their fanbase the old-fashioned way: playing small clubs, releasing independent records, and embracing the DIY punk scene.

🎸 5 Ramones Facts

β€’ The Ramones formed in Queens, New York, in 1974.

β€’ None of the members were actually relatedβ€”they all adopted the surname "Ramone."

β€’ Their debut album was recorded in just seven days.
