You've bought some fresh summer clothes you are excited about, but they need: hemmed, brought in, or let out to fit you! We get it! We are excited for you too. However....We have brides and bridesmaids who have been planning for a warm wedding for months and have booked our skills ahead.
We have to guard our time to accomplish these alterations. Some are extremely complex and take hours. Your pants, shirts, sun dress will be gotten to but if they were a spur of the moment purchase yesterday, they will have to wait their turn.
Look at my previous post for our phone numbers. You can see who has ducked out of wedding gowns, you may have better speed with them.

Bridal season is riding in on a wave like a surfer. Those who booked early have a spot. I have posted my seamster's numbers again for those who still need alterations from June to August.

Ready for the next t-shirt quilt! Yes, I do more than pant hems and bridal. This levels up the creativity quotient. When I need a change from yards of chiffon and bodice take-ins, I can take a brain break to make a people puzzle.
Taking a new approach. Starting with the customer going over the most important life event shirts and we pin them up where prominence matters together.
Not a sleeve is cut, nor back and front separated yet. I do that when I have my press operator at the ready to add the interfacing to the back. Other than that, you are fighting the shirts tendancy to curl. Then they are harder to work with.
We can then fine tune the amount of shirt we need around a logo or add other elements. Then cut and add interfacing. Embroidery can be added to celebrate special events on pieces of shirt back that get a square too. All of this is distilled down to 2" increments. Hence the bed sheet as guide. Not cheap. Totally personalized. Much communication involved to make it a labour of love for the customer to give..

This is the "Bag of the Traveling Pants". Joke intended. During a transfer on Tuesday, Anne and I were juggling pants on a hanger between store, cars and shop. A pin came loose. We agreed we needed a bag.
I had been having a protracted argument with a complex suit sleeve extension. It had been put in time-out several times. An eye test on Wednesday afternoon suspended further sewing. I sat in my shop without overhead lights on and got a picture in my head of the potential bag. I climbed around to get the fabric and industrial strength interfacing down.
The next afternoon, a hyperfocus was singing the song of its people. 🀭 Five hours later, the pants that were hemmed that morning were going to travel back to Schaefer's in style on Friday morning.
I took down the suit jacket at 9:00 that morning. The creative binge had cleared the fog, and I finished it.πŸ’ƒπŸΌ

Small warning for anyone scrolling and thinking of dropping in on Monday February 9th.
There will be drifts of wet tissues. 🀧 My Covid hand sanitizer is long gone, so that won't save you. πŸ€ͺ I might spell funny on the client order.
Perhaps wait until Thursday. Hopefully, the more contagious symptoms have abated and I will be less likely to inverse your phone number.
Feel free to a scroll down to my post with SewMuchMore's phone numbers and choose someone healthy if you need action right away.🀧

Managing expectations concerning zippers. πŸ€”
Some people are surprised that zippers can't be changed in winter coats as quickly, timely or as cheaply as they think is reasonable.
This often concerns senior men who have never picked up a needle, and are always dickering for a bargain. 😏 Or, fast fashion buyers. πŸ™„
I chatted with a few ladies in our SewMuchMore group to establish what their labour offerings are after being denegrated for mine.
Two ladies charge $2 an inch, ($75 approx) others have a set fee no matter how long it takes ($50 approx) etc.
Those of us who pay our bills totally through sewing, charge by the hour because we could be doing someone else's things for our full price, and the zipper job hangs in the same queue.
Typically, it takes me two to three hours to take apart and rebuild a new zipper into all the layers of a winter coat ($80/$115).
If you are on a budget, please mention that. We can direct your request so you know where you need to drive to meet the lower cost seamsters.
If you have some skills, you can make sure the coat is washed, remove the zipper, keep the flaps in order, remove any bottom snap parts in the way, don't stretch or cut the raw edge and do pick the threads. This part actually takes more than half the time and will save you a lot.
Either way, we got you! Hopefully everyone who needs their coats fixed by the end of winter, will wash and drop them off in the spring so they are ready when it gets cold again.❄️❄️

We know you are starting to shop for grad and prom. If you love glitter, please know we are gun shy about altering these dresses and may refuse yours.
They make a mess everywhere and clean up takes hours. I charged for those hours last year because I couldn't start anything else until I took my machine apart and cleaned it, and took my cabinet apart and cleaned it. My ironing board was covered, the floor was covered, and I swept, and vacuumed and used a sticky roller ... on everything. I am still finding bits here and there. I charged the same amount by the hour ($40.00) for that experience last year. Please choose your lovely gown with wisdom, and get the shoes too.πŸ’—

Celebrating taking a few days during the Christmas break for something I have had the supplies for since 2017. Time off is wonderful.
However: Flying Stitches and the eleven ladies in SewMuchMore are back to "adulting".🀭 Thank you for your past support and we look forward to your future projects.

As promised the customer that left their phone in the car, here are the numbers for the ladies in SewMuchMore. You can see we are scattered around and you will be able to find someone. I put up the requests that call me up on our messenger line and the lady who happens to look and has capacity will say that they can take the customer and will text them. You are free to call anyone you want to go to. We charge slightly different to each other to suit our individual businesses.
