I’m so grateful for the time I just spent with you Nanny, on Christmas Eve & Day, just the two of us! Like always, you made me feel extremely special and loved, smiling and telling me how proud you were… you were the best cheer leader!
So, my Grandmother (who, by the way, created my highlandtoes email and showed me way back in the day how to use the internet) did “Wordle” on her iPad every day and would post on fb how many words it took to guess, usually 2 or 3. This woman was a month shy of 99 years old, super smart, funny and capable of doing just about anything!! On Christmas Eve, Nanny asked me to do the puzzle with her and the word was GRACE, which made me tear up a little because it was just totally fitting!
GRACE, as a character trait, is that perfect blend of elegance, kindness, resilience, and integrity, creating a person who inspires and uplifts those around them. There should be a picture of Martina Hatchette in the dictionary next to the word. Anyone who was GRACED with her presence became a better person on the spot and I feel so lucky to be her Granddaughter. I’ll never forget Dad calling me “Mini Martina” as I was chatting with “strangers” on a train, just curious to know who they were and relating to them… showing kindness like Nanny did.
I’m going to miss you here on earth, but I’m so happy you are with Grampie again, probably holding hands and giggling. Say hi to Dad and Oliver for me 🥰
Thanks for being such an amazing role model, a loving Grandmother, and a cool as f^%k woman… I love you very much ❤️
