After 29 years full of inspiration, growth, challenges, and great people - the time has come to say goodbye to Biscuit General Store.
I’m grateful that you welcomed this Southern girl into the Halifax community to share my take on fashion and “nice things.” So many exceptional people were crucial to this shop’s success and made the journey full of laughter - I’m forever grateful to all of the “Biscuits” who joined the team over various eras.
29 years is an epic run. I feel happy and peaceful with this decision.
To our current team, thank you for the support and trust you’ve shown me since I’ve shared this news with you.
Recently many things have changed. The fashion industry has changed, the city is changing, and I am changing too. In my experience, the fashion business has become more about competing with mega corporations and less about creativity in the last 5 years. This along with rising costs and other factors - the joy was getting lost and for me it was not sustainable.
I’m pulled to focus my creative energy on my home & hospitality store The Independent Mercantile Co. ( ) on Gottingen Street where I feel great potential and inspiration. We’ll be further evolving there in the months ahead - so please stay tuned.
I also want to turn more energy into trying to serve my fellow human beings in ways that resonate with my values.
(If you have suggestions, please be in touch )
Biscuit will remain open for a final holiday season, one last “Legendary Boxing Day Sale” with a plan to close in mid-January.
Please support small local shops. Your streets will be more interesting. Your communities will be better supported. Your homes & bodies will be adorned with items chosen with artfulness & care.
With love and gratitude,
Wendy ♥️
