#20 — Club América 1994/95 Home 🇲🇽

Yellow and blue, classic América colours, and an all-time classic 90s football shirt.

Club América’s 1994/95 home jersey is a standout from Mexican football’s golden era of bold kit designs. The bright yellow base, blue detailing and large club crest give it a look that feels unmistakably mid-90s.

A shirt from a different era of Mexican football, when the designs were loud, the colours were bold, and every kit had its own character.

#21 — Arsenal 1991/93 Away 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Very few football shirts have their own nickname. Even fewer have a nickname as famous as Arsenal’s 1991/93 away kit.

The Bruised Banana. 🍌

The unmistakable yellow with dark zig-zag design made this one of the most distinctive shirts of the early Premier League era, with the classic Arsenal crest completing the look.

It’s bold and unusual and completely unapologetic — exactly the kind of football shirt design that probably wouldn’t get made today.

When first released it divided opinions. It’s well known that even the Arsenal players had a dislike for it. However, its legend has grown as the years have passed, and nowadays you won’t hear a bad word said about it from anyone associated with the club.

#22 — Barcelona 1995/97 Away 🇪🇸

Kappa. Barça. Ronaldo.

Barcelona’s 1995/97 away shirt is absolute mid-90s football — a classic Kappa design from an era when football shirts had their own personality.

But this one is forever connected to Ronaldo Nazário’s incredible 1996/97 season.

In his only season at Barcelona, the Brazilian scored 47 goals in 49 games, won the Copa del Rey and UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, and produced some of the most memorable individual performances of the decade.

This is the shirt of Ronaldo at his absolute best — before his move to Inter.

A genuine 90s Barça classic.

This Marseille away shirt is pure early-90s football.

The strong blue base, classic Adidas detailing and bold Panasonic sponsor give it that unmistakable vintage European look — simple, clean and full of character.

It’s the kind of shirt that doesn’t need complicated graphics or modern design tricks. The colours, crest and sponsor do all the work.

A proper Marseille classic and an easy choice for the TEK Top 50.

#24 — Bayern Munich 1997/99 Home 🇩🇪

Most clubs are not usually this adventurous with their home shirts, and the one thing that is normally sacred is the colour, which is probably why this one stands out so much.

Released by adidas in 1997, this was a very different take on the traditional Bayern look. Navy blue took centre stage, with red horizontal bands across the chest, red sleeve panels and crisp white detailing. It had that oversized, baggy look that was standard for kits of the mid-to-late 90s. It was unmistakably Bayern, but unlike almost anything they had worn before or since.

And then there’s that Opel sponsor. Sitting perfectly within the chest design, it completes the look rather than distracting from it. The polo collar and classic adidas three stripes give the shirt just enough traditional detail to balance what was otherwise a pretty radical departure for the club.

And this was Bayern in a seriously strong period, with players like Oliver Kahn, Lothar Matthäus, Stefan Effenberg and Giovane Élber all wearing the famous Bayern badge.

#25 — Real Madrid 2016/17 Away 🇪🇸

Purple. Adidas. Real Madrid. Cardiff.

The 2016/17 away shirt is one of those kits that immediately brings back memories of a very special Real Madrid side.

The deep purple colourway, subtle graphic pattern and Adidas detailing gave Madrid a completely different look from their famous all-white home shirt.

But this shirt is remembered for what happened at the end of the season.

Cardiff. The Champions League final. Juventus.

Real Madrid beat Juventus 4–1 to become the first team to successfully defend the Champions League era title — with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice, alongside goals from Casemiro and Marco Asensio.

A brilliant shirt from one of the defining seasons in modern Real Madrid history.

#26 — Manchester City 1997/99 Away 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

White, maroon and navy. Kappa. Brother.

Manchester City’s 1997/99 away shirt is a snapshot of the club before the modern era completely changed its identity.

The clean white base, maroon and navy detailing, distinctive Kappa design and Brother sponsor give it that fond late-90s look.

This was a very different Manchester City — Maine Road, Kappa kits and the club fighting its way back up the divisions.

Simple times. Simple shirt. And a kit that has aged beautifully.

#27 — Borussia Mönchengladbach 1996/97 Away 🇩🇪

The 1996/97 away shirt has a clean black base, white collar and cuffs, and subtle black and green detailing that gives the shirt plenty of character without going overboard.

The Reebok logo sits centrally underneath the collar, while Diebels across the chest completes the unmistakable 90s look. You can’t beat a b**r sponsor.

It’s a great example of what makes 90s football shirts so collectible — a relatively simple design, but packed with the little details that make it instantly recognisable as a shirt from its era.

A proper Gladbach classic.
