My name is Shan, and I am the owner and seamstress behind Shan Stitches. I grew up surrounded by handcrafts and have been sewing since I was a child. Over the last 15 years, I have honed my skills, attended fashion school, and worked in alterations shops before setting out to start my own business. While my background is in clothing, I have expanded into drapery, upholstery, and more recently bridal alterations. I am happy to serve the Kingston and surrounding area and to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment to all people. I offer pickup and delivery services and I have a drop off location at Loads of Fun Laundromat in Kingston’s West End. I offer quick turnaround time and reasonable prices and a wide array of services including (but not limited to!) alterations, mending, household sewing and custom sewing. Hello all,

After some deliberation, I have made the decision to close Shan Stitches sooner than I was planning on doing so.

I will not be taking on any additional sewing at this time, and I will be closing down my business and its social media pages on September 30th, 2026. All outstanding work will be finished before then.

I have enjoyed being a small business owner for the last 5 years, and am happily moving on to the next stage of my life.

It’s almost the end of summer!

School starts next week, and I’m looking forward to fall.

As some of you may know, I went back to work full time earlier this year. And as a result, I now have significantly less time to dedicate to sewing.

I am not fully closing Shan Stitches down, at least not yet, but I will be taking on a much lighter workload and providing a more streamlined list of services.

I will be taking custom sewing off of the list for now and sticking to basic alterations.

I will also no longer be offering in-person fittings. You may drop clothing off to me, pre-pinned or marked so that I can fix them up for you.
