Today was day 3 of Ogwahwęjahsnye’ (we look after or take care of the earth), a two-week summer field course here in Ohswé:ken. Today my group went electrofishing to look at and ID local fish, and tomorrow we’ll be checking out aquatic insects 🪲 This kind of scientific field work is completely new to me (and I’m not sure my clumsy ass is cut out for it lol), but so far it’s been a lot of fun 🎣🛶

Can we plz take a moment to appreciate this sssweet coral sssnake raised beadwork piece from 2022? I totally forgot about it until I found it at my mom’s place yesterday. I’m currently working on some v***a earrings and beaded necklaces, but maybe the next project after that should be more wall hangings 🤔

Been experimenting with linocut patch making. The deets: these are printed with black Speedball fabric ink onto deer split, and then heat set.

As promised, here is my 8 year anniversary 𝓰𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓪𝔀𝓪𝔂 post. This necklace has 3 flat-stitch beaded charms and is on a stainless steel chain. It is 18” long and additional links can be added to accommodate a different size. Instructions in the second slide, and I’ll be drawing the name on the 5th at 8pm EST

I’m super stoked with how this piece came out and look forward to making more 🎀 🐰🍒

10 years ago (last month) I attempted to su***de. That’s 10 years that I didn’t think I’d have. So this past weekend my friends and I celebrated the fact that I’m still alive. I’m lucky to love, and be loved by, such great people. I’m proud of myself and acknowledge all of the good work I’ve done 💜

We start everyday at immersion by sharing what we did yesterday after school, and as a homebody that enjoys rest, this is what goes through my head 😅 This was my project for our current unit, distributives — aka a suffix used “to indicate an action happens many times or in many places”. The translations were added just for posting (ur welcome 😉)
