The vintage 'Cosco' brand shop stool is done. Someone covered it in blue cotton and badly spray-bombed it to match. I stripped it down but the original finish was too far gone to look alright as it was. As usual the chrome legs came back brilliantly (old chrome is so amazing). With a good sanding, a few coats of what I'm going to call "Toolbox Red", and some new padding and vinyl on the seat and backrest, it's now back in use.

Refurbished and refinished smoking stand. Makes a great cellphone charging stand.

"These were originally developed prior to World War I as the one stop spot for the smoker of the house with all necessary accessories, including cigar scissors, humidor and ashtray in one handy stand positioned by the favorite chair. The heyday of the “smoker” was during the Depression era of the 1930s when manufacturers turned to “novelty” furniture items in an effort to produce a product that was affordable to the average family. Like teapoys (teapot stands) before them, all of the manufacturing legerdemain of the period was brought to bear on this small product including printed finishes, fake veneer, exotic (or seemingly exotic) woods and creative decorations that sought to give the humble smoker some “value.” While the genre lasted well into the 1950s, by the 1970s the “smoker” was a relic of the past for everyday use."

Took an old tea crate that had been repurposed to build a storage bench and covered it in retro vinyl to mimic the ad in a 1953 edition of Woman's Day magazine.

Completely restored and refurbished "rain lamp", including new pump. When these were new and popular, I never really liked them, but they're pretty hard to find these days and there's something mezmerizing about the "rainfall".

Found this old swivel rocker outside in the rain at the back of an antique store in Olalla, B.C. Fifteen dollars later, I stuffed it, in all its soggy gloriosity, into the back of the car for the trip home.

A new chair swivel, sanded and restained arms and legs, and some vintage-look fabric, and its the perfect mate for a recently recovered footstool.

Replaced the torn vinyl of this old footstool with some retro fabric, giving it a much needed makeover.

Had to cobble together some pieces to make this work as my supplier couldn't get the plaid to me in time to revamp this child's rocker for my favourite little guy's first birthday. Not much left of the blue/green plaid when all was said and done. Disappointed in the seam, but I can always redo it later.
