Tariff update:

Good news for anyone wanting to shop small batch Canadian made woven textiles. My fabrics do not fall into categories affected by the trade war at this time. There isn’t a 50% duty. There are still tariffs of 18% but we will take the little wins where we can. There are a few blankets in the shop and I have a new warp on the smaller loom for neckwear.

Rosy throw blankets are now in the shop! Take a look. Let me know what you love.

These were woven on my 60 inch loom with a heavier weight yarn. They have excellent drape and are so so comfy. Did I mention that gorgeous twill pattern I’m using? ❤️

Woven throw blankets! I’m so excited about how this piece turned out. This is a heavier weight cotton than my blanket scarves and cowls and it’s woven on a wider loom — 60 inches wide! A different twill pattern too 🔥 All good things.

The last fabrics of Detour are up on the website.
It’s a small offering. Most of the warp sold as preorders and for a minute it felt like 2015 again.

But it isn’t. And everything is strange and a bit sad.

We will make it through tho 🍁❤️

Thank you so much for your ongoing enthusiastic support of my craft! — and good news amongst the mostly terrible news, I got every USA based preorder from this warp woven, washed, sewn, packaged and shipped before the tariff deadline … which is tonight at midnight. Small yay!

Apologies for not getting any general sale items up in the shop from this collection in time. There are only so many hours in the day — and summer is too good to spend too much of it in my studio.

I don’t have much yardage left from this olive cotton warp — it’ll be a small collection release in the upcoming days. Small and absolutely delightful if you’re an olive loving person like myself.

** Important studio update **

Well it’s been roughly a year after 35% tariffs were introduced and de minimus eradicated. Things are so different and now about to get even worse. 50% duties start Wednesday of next week.

Check in on your favourite Canadian makers who ship to the states. We are not ok.

If you’re interested in something from my shop, heads up these new tariffs take effect August 19th.

Wherever you are, your support is much appreciated and valued. I’ll continue to make quality handwoven goods for your wardrobe and home regardless of this crushing setback.

My studio practices are ever evolving though and this fall they will change again. I have accepted a full time position and my weaving will take on a lesser role in my work life. I’ll continue crafting and producing fabrics; but the degree of output remains uncertain. I’m keeping my website and socials; however, the most reliable way to stay up to date will be subscribing to newsletters. I’m not sure what will happen when I post less and where I’ll end up in your newsfeed. At least with a newsletter, you know it’ll land in your inbox.

I keep pivoting and trying my best. And right now that just has to look like relying less on this little dream of mine.

Who knows what the future holds. I hope yours includes Rosy Deer Textiles.

I hope mine does too, in some capacity.
