Celebrating 20 Years of the Clarke Road Shelter.

Today marks 20 years since the opening of our Clarke Road shelter—a space that has provided safety, support, and hope to countless survivors of gender-based violence. Over the past two decades, this shelter has been more than just a place to stay; it has been a refuge where healing begins, where strength is rebuilt, and where futures without violence are imagined.

We are grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey—staff, volunteers, donors, and the community—for your unwavering support. Together, we continue to work toward a world where shelters like Clarke Road are no longer needed.

Today, we remember the six lives lost in the Quebec City Mosque Attack—a tragic act of Islamophobia that shook our nation. Hate has no place in our communities. At Anova, we recognize that Islamophobia and gender-based violence are deeply connected, both fueled by harmful systems of oppression.
