RoadRunner Quilting

RoadRunner Quilting I offer professional long arm quilting. INFO FOR PREPARING YOUR QUILT
FOR BEING LONGARMED.

1. This gives me room to work. Very important.

PRESSING - pressing your seams and quilt top ensure a nice smooth top. Also press your backing, especially the factory folds.
2. BACKING AND BATTING SIZE - please have your backing and batting 4” to 6” bigger than quilt top all around. If your backing is really close to same size as top then add a strip of scrap fabric. The reason I need bigger is so I can load the quilt and hold in place. See ‘

A’ on picture
3. PERIMETER STITCHING - do a 1/8” to 1/4” stitching all around the quilt- especially if there are lots of seams. This helps keep quilt top square and not stretch out of proportion. See ‘B’ on picture
4. WHICH IS THE TOP - label each of your 3 pieces ( backing, batting, top) of what is the top of the quilt. Especially important if you have a pieced backing, labelling the top let’s me know which direction you want it. A pinned sticky not or a discarded selvedge with “top” written on it it works great. This saves me alot of time.
5. LABELLING THE BACKING - if you have a label sewn on your backing or writing on it somewhere please let me know. I can easily miss it, especially if it is just written on. If I am not aware then it could end up in the wrong placement with the loading of the quilt.
6. PACKAGING - sandwich your 3 layers (no need to pin) and fold up together. This is really important if you are sending more than one quilt, then nothing gets mixed up like the backings. Use clear plastic bags. Please try not to use black/green garbage bags. I have heard of the bag being mistaken for garbage and then the quilt is gone. Has not happened to me!! If you do use garbage bags make sure it’s labelled well.
7. INFO - label your quilt bag with your name…. Also send me any info about what you want and please write it out. I had one customer send me a pic of the panto she wanted so I was able to find and order it. Give me a phone number I can reach you at via text or call. The more info I have the better it is.
8. RUSH JOB - if you have a date you need your quilt by be sure to let me know and I can accommodate you.
9. MEASURING YOUR BORDERS - it is important to put borders on proper so your quilt lays flat and square. Sewing your border just from top to bottom and then cutting off the excess creates the quilt to be wavy. Here is a Video to watch showing how to measure for a square quilt. “QITV with Quilting 101: Measuring and Sewing Borders From Quilting In The Valley. “

Spent 2 days at the Cactus Rose Quilt Show. So much talent. And so many quilts. My friend Linda came with me and is so amazing at promoting my business. I can’t thank her enough.
Super excited that my friend/customer Joss Malley won a ribbon in the small quilt category.
Thankyou to my customers for letting me show off your quilts and for supporting my small business.
Here are some quilts that I quilted in the quilt show, (missed a few pics) and our display.
