This Thanksgiving I’m very thankful to our farmers as always. They have a tough job and it’s getting tougher. I am thankful to be Canadian. 🇨🇦🍁
Canada makes most of the world's maple syrup. Every drop comes from families who spend the coldest weeks of the year in the bush, tending the same tree that's on our flag.
But it's getting harder. Seasons are less predictable, equipment costs keep climbing, and many sugar makers are nearing retirement without anyone lined up to take over. Fewer young families are getting into maple, and that worries me.
It's something I want to help change. A lot more on that soon.
For now: buy from a local sugar bush, tell a farmer thanks, and pour the real stuff this weekend.
Happy Thanksgiving. 🍁
