🇨🇦 It’s been a military-themed week in the Timber & Threads shop!

One of my favourite custom projects was this military family welcome door hanger. ❤️

I also had the privilege of creating a few special pieces that have been donated to an upcoming Royal Canadian Legion silent auction:

📦 Fresh shipment day! 😍

There’s just something satisfying about opening a brand-new box of crystal-clear acrylic!

This is the material behind so many of my favourite creations—from faux stained glass suncatchers and military remembrance pieces to mirror hangers, lantern inserts, ornaments, and so much more.

It’s been a busy few days in the shop! ❤️

Here are just a few of the projects I’ve been working on lately…

🐾 Personalized pet magnets

⛳ Custom golf balls donated for a Royal Canadian Legion fundraiser

🚗 A custom military-themed hanging ornament I made for Alain. While it looks great on a rearview mirror, it can also be displayed on a Christmas tree, in a shadow box, on a wall, or anywhere you’d like to showcase it.

There are quite a few other projects keeping me busy too, but they’re gifts, so I can’t share them just yet! 🤫🎁

I also wanted to mention something that’s been on my mind. I receive quite a few requests for donations throughout the year, and while I truly love supporting local causes, it’s simply not possible for me to donate to every fundraiser that comes my way.

When I do donate, I try to support causes that are close to our family’s heart or organizations and people who have supported my small business over the years. Supporting our veterans through the Royal Canadian Legion is one of those causes that’s especially meaningful to us.

✨ I’m back in the shop… and it feels so good to be creating again! ❤️

As much as I loved our Alaska adventure, I have to admit… I really missed my UV printer! 😆

One of the first projects I tackled was this personalized wooden name puzzle, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Each puzzle is handcrafted from quality wood and personalized with your child’s name, along with matching animal pieces for each letter. Not only are they fun to play with, but they’re also a great way to encourage letter recognition, spelling, fine motor skills, and imaginative play.

Almost three years ago, I lost my best friend, Shannon.

This weekend, I’ll be making the drive to spend time with her mom as we celebrate Shannon’s birthday, share stories, laugh, cry, and remember the incredible woman she was. ❤️

Well… we’re home! ❤️

I couldn’t resist sharing a couple more Alaska photos. One of our excursions took us to a sled dog mush camp where we got to cuddle 7-week-old and 4-week-old Alaskan Husky puppies. I think that may have been my favourite part of the entire trip! 🐶💙

Now it’s time to get back to reality (and back to the shop!).

Give me just a couple of days to unpack, get organized, and get back into the swing of things. If you’ve sent me a message or inquiry over the past few weeks, thank you so much for your patience! I’ll be working my way through everything and will get back to everyone as soon as I can.

Okay, serious question…

Are you all going to hate me if I post a few Alaska photos while we’re away? 😆

We spent today glacier watching, and I don’t think pictures can properly capture how incredible this was in person. The colour of the water, the ice, the mountains… absolutely unreal.

Don’t worry, I’ll be back to sawdust, lasers, UV printing, and custom orders soon enough. 😉

For now, here’s a little piece of Alaska. 🏔️❄️

I’m currently thousands of kilometres away, but today my heart is back home in Medicine Hat.

Yesterday, our community lost an 11-year-old child far too soon. While I didn’t know him personally, as a parent, grandparent, and someone who cares deeply about children, news like this hits hard.

There are moments that remind us how fragile life can be, and this is one of them. My heart aches for his family, his friends, his classmates, his teachers, the first responders, and everyone whose lives were touched by him.

No family should have to face this kind of loss. No child should leave this world so soon.

Tonight, I’m holding his loved ones in my thoughts and sending love home to a community that is grieving together.

Hug your kids a little tighter. Tell the people you love that you love them. Tomorrow is never promised.

Rest easy, sweet boy. ❤️
