This Saturday August 15th we will be opening the doors of our little studio in Merville. If you want to see our designs, have a free espresso, and learn more about all the steps needed to make ethical and sustainable clothes, from the first idea, to the final production, stop by!

We enjoyed a very needed week off after the Filberg Festival. I needed some quality time with my daughter, enjoying a summer week with beach days, sand sculptures, gardening evenings, games, outdoor breakfasts, movie nights, reading together, and sleeping in…

BTW, the festival was epic! Our fist one as a vendor, it was truly magical and exhausting at the same time. We meet great human beings, we sold many pieces (sooo needed!), we shared Fento’s purpose, we made new friends, we also got great feedback to keep growing and learning, and much more.

Thank you Aluxa for being the best business partner (aside the best daughter in the Universe). Our booth looked so beautiful with her touch and care. She worked so hard in the preps, during the festival, and cleaning up. Thanks to her dad Jonathan Ellerby PhD | Mindful Wellness & Spirituality Coach for supporting with drives, snacks, and even selling when I needed a break.
Thank you to our fantastic festival neighbors ESQUIMALT Vermouth & Apéritifs They make the best vermouth! I only drink occasionally, but every time I attended this festival in the past, I got a bottle from them. It reminds me of the Spanish vermouth. Their Rosso and the smoked one are so good!
Thanks to the festival organization, special thanks to the volunteers to treat us with coffee and pastries every morning. Thank you to our friend ANDROS for our beautiful wooden sign.
And many, MANY thanks to every person who stopped at our 152 booth, to ask about us, our designs, fabrics, corozo buttons, tried clothes, made a purchase, or only came to chat. I appreciate each of you so much. It really meant the world to us.

When I talk of “us”, I mean my 9 yo girl and I. We are the Fento team. Fento would not be possible without Aluxa. She is my inspiration, the motor which keeps me trying, working hard, surfing the big waves in life. She also collaborates in our designs. I’m learning so much from her vision and her way of combining colours, opening my limited options tremendously.
I’m so lucky to see life through her eyes, full of curiosity, observance, and appreciation. Aluxa, I’m so lucky to be your mom. Te siempre, para siempre. Infinito, sin fin.

Our Meiga Summer collection is already available online, and in our retail friend Artifact Shop
Quantities are very limited, so if you like one of the tops so much, get it as soon as you can! If you are local, or planning to be in the Comox area in the coming weeks, you can save the shipping and selected local pick up at our studio in Merville.
You can also find us this coming weekend, July 31st to August 2nd, at my favorite music festival in the Valley, Filberg Festival

The Meiga tops are here! Yes, I know, we need to iron them. But I could not wait to show you the designs! They will be available on our website fentolife.ca at some point today. You will find them with the Meiga shorts also at Artifact Shop in Courtenay in the coming days. You can also show up for our pop up happening this Saturday (pm for details) or come visit us at the beautiful Filberg Festival.
Sizes go from XS-S up to XXL.
Materials: the plain side is a linen-organic cotton blend (50-50), same than the Meiga shorts. The print side is a dead stock I got last year, hand block printed cotton from India (the blue and red are organic cotton, the others are not certified, but India is the head country right now producing organic and regenerative cotton.
Sizes are very limited. Some of the designs are only one per size.
BTW, do you know the meaning of Meiga? It’s a Galician word. There is no exactly translation. Meiga (from the Latin magus: magical, magician, magic) means a kind of wizard, witch, a wise midlife woman, living in the forests of Galicia, and herbalist, with super natural powers, connected with the Sacred Universe, who normally uses her magic powers for the good. But there are also meigas who can use it for the bad, specially towards bad people… Most of the translations or explanation you can find on the internet today are post Catholicism, and as you may know, they did not like any kind of women, specially the wise ones, so meiga started to mean since then a “bad witch”, and they killed many, many women, accusing them of being witches, in the name of their religion…

Yes, we are over the moon and jumping for many reasons:

-Reason 1: Congrats Spain, I’m so proud of our players and coach, for showing the best of team sports: ethics, how important is team work, kindness, and working really really hard. They are a great example to follow for our kids who like soccer (o futbol, en España!). Vamoooosssss!

-Reason 2: Our are here! If you pre-order yours, you will receive an email very soon to pick up at our studio in Merville. Great for these warm days coming up this week!

-Reason 3: I want to show all of you how comfortable they are, whether you can jump, do some yoga, sit for hours, hike. Super soft in the skin, and really breathable.

The Meiga top is arriving this week too!
We will be having a pop up this weekend in our studio in Merville. Please stop by (carpool is recommended) and see our last creations, before we officially launch them at on July 31st.

Did you get already your Meiga shorts? Because the Meiga tops are coming very soon! If you want to help a small ethical brand like us, pre-orders will open tomorrow July 8th at 4pm PT. Your pre-orders (and gift cards purchases) help us self finance our production). Units are limited, sizes XS-S up to XXL.
Meiga top is made with linen-organic cotton blend (matching the Meiga shorts) and a hand block printed cotton from India. We will have different prints, and two colours on the plain side, matching the shorts (pistachio and denim).
The printed fabric it's a dead-stock purchase we made last year. So you may not find your size on the print you like. Sizes and combinations will be available on our website before opening the pre-order campaign.
Having so much fun with the possible combinations!!
If you prefer to see them in person, you can book an appointment in our website to visit our showroom, or visit Artifact Shop in Courtenay, and ROAM Store + Studio in Comox, one the Meiga collection is at stores.
You will also find us at Filberg Festival !
