I have a thing for baskets.

It started innocently enough. One vintage basket here. A little woven beauty there. And then, apparently, I lost the plot. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Somewhere along the way, my basket collection went from “I appreciate vintage baskets” to “How many baskets does one woman reasonably need?” (The answer, apparently, is just one more.) 🫠

Seriously though, there is something magical about a vintage basket. A simplest thing that has seen a whole other world before me. The lines, the imperfections, the fact that they can stand the test of time. Kind of like me…. maybe… kind of?

Anyway, I like baskets. I have a lot. Too many for my little house. It’s just the way it is.

Is there really such a thing as too many baskets??

This past weekend brought me to Cape Breton for a funeral. The silver lining? A little stop at the Coxheath Flea Market. 🫣❤️

Because there’s nothing wrong with a little vintage retail therapy after a few heavy days, right?

I found a few treasures while shopping alongside my son and my siblings, and even got to connect with some vendors from my island. 🥰

All in all, it was an okay weekend. I said goodbye to a beautiful lady, ate a few home-cooked meals, had my fill of Cape Breton pizza, laughed with friends, and brought home a few vintage treasures along the way.

Sometimes the heavy and the happy can exist in the same weekend. ❤️

No thrifting trip is complete without a stroll through the book section. 📚

There’s something special about flipping through the pages of an old book. Between the handwritten notes, forgotten bookmarks, inscriptions, and pressed flowers, it feels like you’re reading someone’s story in real time.

Nothing beats that little rush of excitement when something falls out from between the pages.

Who else gets excited when that happens?
