It's Heart Made, Hand Finished! Maya Charbin has always been driven to explore the unknown, looking for unfamiliar objects, places and experiences. I cut.

Lebanese-born and based in Toronto, her design aesthetic marries global textile traditions with experimentation of unconventional materials. Maya had initially majored in sociology, worked as a make-up artist for M.A.C Cosmetics, but her relentless passion drove her to explore new territories. After being a mother of 2 kids the passionate designer joined Esmod International Fashion University Group to realize her childhood dream. She graduated in June 2014 holding 3 awards. She was selected to display her graduation collection in the biggest department store in Beirut, her work marked a sensuality begging to be worn and touched. As Maya herself says, “I drape a lot. I have to touch. For me it is almost impossible to start without that.”

20 hours in the air… so naturally, I turned the plane into my little fashion playground.

A little styling, a little experimenting, a few outfit changes, some scarf playing, heels at 40,000 feet… and way too much fun.

Because for me, fashion isn’t just about getting dressed it’s about playing, creating and reinventing.

Next stop: Miami. 🌴

As a designer, I don’t just look at the yachts… I look at the details.

Everywhere I looked, there was inspiration.

Architecture. Texture. Colour. Movement. Light.
Even Monaco became part of the mood board.

Travel reminds me why I love designing.
New places create new ideas.

Sometimes inspiration isn’t on the runway.
Sometimes it’s floating in the Mediterranean Monaco Yacht Show
