Her Story - Hi everyone! My name is Breanna and this is to raise money for my 9 year old boxer, Mya and if you know me at all, she is my everything.

Starting last Wednesday (July 29th), We noticed Mya having trouble walking on her front right leg and throughout the day she starting showing signs that she was in pain. We ended up taking her that night to King Hopkins Pet Hospital. They looked at her and thought that she twisted her leg. We were told to come back if it didn’t improve and we were sent home with some pain meds.

The next morning her condition worsened and she was in a great deal of pain. Pain meds weren’t helping and we took her back. The vet noticed she was waddling instead of walking. He took x rays and was concerned that she had developed a condition called intervertebral disc disease or it may be cancer under her spine. He referred us to a neurologist at Animal Health Partners Hospital in North York, so that she could have an MRI.

We took her on Saturday and at this point she was crying in pain and could hardly walk. They took her in and because of COVID we had to wait in my car. She was unable to get an MRI that day so they scheduled her for one on Tuesday. They increased her pain meds and gave her a shot to help with the pain.

My family and I have taken turns since Wednesday sleeping with her. Her condition worsened and by Monday not only were the pain meds not helping, she couldn’t stand on her back legs and we had to carry her to go to the washroom and when she tried to p*e she fell because she couldn’t stand. We noticed her back right leg had swelled so we took her immediately back to Animal Health Partners, where they hospitalized her. She was put on very heavy pain medication and had a catheter put in. They proceeded with the MRI the next day.

The neurologist called us and diagnosed her with a condition called discospondylitis,
