Today, I am sharing a piece of my heart that feels shattered. I lost not just my friend, not just my brother—Brendt Barrett was a part of me. We met as kids, neighbors at 7 and 8 years old, and from that moment, we formed a bond that was unbreakable. Brendt wasn’t just in my life; he was family. He was a part of my world, and losing him feels like losing a piece of myself.
Brendt, known by so many as Coach B, was a man with an extraordinary heart. He was passionate about helping children in sports, guiding them not only to be great athletes but great individuals. His love for his community was unmatched—he poured himself into making a difference. He opened a nonprofit, raised tons of peanut butter for local food banks, and turned a small gym into thriving sports hubs that became pillars in the community.
Brendt didn’t just live—he gave, he loved, and he fought. He fought cancer with the same strength and determination he brought to everything in his life. He was a fighter, a warrior, and an inspiration to all who knew him.
Brendt, I love you and miss you more than words can ever say. Your legacy lives on in every life you touched, in every community you served, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know you.
