Today we start The Apostles’ Fast, a time when we commemorate the struggles of the Apostles to preach Christianity to the world. This fast varies in length from two to six weeks (15 to 49 days), depending on the date of Pentecost. Usually starts in June ends in July, starting on the Monday following the Sunday of Pentecost and extending to the feast day of Saint Peter and Paul the Apostle. During this time, we reflect on the struggles of the Apostles to preach Christianity to the world.

As we fast, let us also meditate on the word of God and follow the example of the apostles who devoted themselves to prayer and preaching.

“I AM THE VINE, YOU ARE THE BRANCH”
JOHN (15:5)

May God bless our fast and grant us grace and strength to follow Him faithfully. Amen. 🙏

🙏 Today we celebrate the Feast of the Entry of the Lord into Egypt on the 24th day of Bashans in the Coptic Orthodox Church. This feast is among the Seven Minor Feasts of the Lord.

When the Holy Family fled from Herod’s persecution and found refuge in our land. As the Holy Family entered the land of Egypt, St. Mary the Virgin mother carried the child Jesus in her arms, with Joseph the Carpenter at her side and Salome, who accompanied them. Let us remember this day with the bible verse: ‘Out of Egypt I called my son’ (Hosea 11:1).

We remember how God fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “Behold, the Lord rides on a swift cloud, and will come into Egypt; the idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.” (Isaiah 19:1)

We also rejoice in the blessing that God bestowed on Egypt: “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.” (Isaiah 19:25) We pray that God may continue to protect and prosper His people in Egypt and throughout the world.

📖 As it is written in Isaiah 19:1, “Behold, the Lord rides on a swift cloud, and will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.”

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Pentecost in the Coptic Orthodox Church🙏. This feast is one of the seven major feasts in our church and is celebrated 50 days after the Resurrection. On this day, we remember the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and the Holy Virgin Mary. As Jesus promised before His crucifixion, “The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14:26).

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever” (John 14:16). May we all be blessed by the Holy Spirit on this special day🕊️.

🏛️ “Egypt’s Richest Poor Man”
The story of a millionaire who worked as an elevator repairman in his own building! 🎩💰
In downtown Cairo decades ago, a quiet man used to walk the streets in an elegant suit and fez. Calm features, humble presence—you’d think he was a simple bank employee. But in truth, he was a hidden giant of generosity: Mr. Sourial Gad El‑Karim.
He owned buildings and properties in Egypt’s most prestigious areas, yet chose to live far from false glory. One incident reveals his character perfectly:

🛠️ The Elevator Incident
One day, the elevator in one of his buildings broke down. Instead of calling maintenance, Sourial rolled up his sleeves and fixed it himself, wearing simple work clothes.
The residents assumed he was a poor repairman. After he finished, one of them handed him a small coin as a tip.

✨ The Millionaire’s Response
He didn’t reveal who he was. He accepted the coin with a smile, kissed it respectfully, and later used it to buy bread for a poor family he planned to visit that night.

🕊️ Secret Charity at Dawn
At night, he wore old clothes and quietly delivered envelopes of money to widows and the poor, slipping them under doors and leaving before anyone could thank him—living the meaning of: “Do not let your left hand know what your right hand gives.”

📜 The Funeral That Revealed Everything (July 1962)
At his funeral, ministers walked beside thousands of poor people weeping as if they had lost a father. Only then did many realize that the humble “elevator worker” was the one supporting half the neighborhood.

“He earned money with the mind of a merchant,
and spent it with the heart of a saint.”

True greatness isn’t in wealth or titles—but in humility, mercy, and quiet goodness.
