Little something I made two months ago for

The goal was to create a piece that mixes both her Egyptian and Canadian heritage into on garment. A dress that would take inspiration from niqabs but made out of knitted wool.

I love to create with seemingly unmixable ideas, it always creates something so powerful. This was one of those pieces that get me so in the zone! It stayed on the mannequin in the corner of my studio like a ghostly entity looming over us. It felt half soothing, half terrorizing to have her there and I was so inspired just looking at it.

I used second hand sweaters and blankets which I then cut appart and combined to create something much more grand than the some of its parts. It made me use my artisanal skills as there was a lot of handsewing and embroidery involved.

I also had the absolute pleasure to collaborate with and his amazing crochet skills for those fabulous crocheted nails. This was our first collaboration but it will not be the last!

When I saw Jean Paul Gaultier 's last fashion show, I was immediately obsessed by the belt dresses he designed and thought it would transfer well into a Rock & Roll theme if I used thick black leather to make the belts. Especially for such a fashion queen as Suki Doll! Thank you so much for your trust in my work!
As for the picture, we got inspired by the iconic picture of Marion Cotillard by Tim Walker for W Magazine
As usual Jean-Sébastien marvelously captured the essence of the inspiration board, the garment and the model!
