Sweet Paprika Designs is a Montreal-based small business providing hand-dyed yarns, kits, and knitti

Started in 2007 by sisters Elizabeth and Debbie Sullivan as a way to fund their fibre habit, Sweet Paprika has grown and the business now includes hand-dyed yarn, kits, patterns and classes. Our goal is to make beautiful yarns that complement any knitting or crochet project. We also strive to create patterns that are wearable, fun to make, and classically stylish. Since moving to Montreal in 2008

we’ve been building our community of fellow fibre enthusiasts here, and have taught many new friends to knit and crochet. Please note, our studio location is open for yarn pickups by appointment only. Please contact us by email ([email protected]) if you're thinking of dropping by.

Check out the "Stranded in the Mountains" mittens designed by Antonia Cavaliere (aka Skips a Generation). Such a great pattern name, right 😁

These mitts are a simple, fun and quick project worked in our Gavotte yarn with an eye-catching colorwork accent. They are the perfect introduction to stranded colorwork and the pattern comes in 4 sizes from from toddler to adult, making them a great giftable item!

It's a 4-ply yarn with a fairly dense and smooth construction. It has great stitch definition, perfect for showing off cables or other textured stitch patterns, and works well for colourwork too!

We have one more pattern idea for our new Toccata organic cotton yarn to share: the Saila top designed by Sachiko Burgin .

Saila is an elegant sleeveless summer top features a cockleshell lace pattern that the designer originally found in a vintage pattern leaflet from the 1920s. It's worked in the round from the hem up, then split at the armholes to work back and forth for the upper body. Saila is available as a free download on Ravelry and Lovecrafts.
