October has been a whirlwind (how are we here already?!) and extra special this year with events that have highlighted what is important…a reminder the world needs…Helping people, rallying around health, healing and happiness. Bonus has been getting to attend evenings that feel hopeful, joyous and celebratory of all the good that is and can be. Susan Irving and the whole Cashmere Collection crew: what a special experience to witness this culmination of design excellence, beauty through advocacy and a wondrous sense of community. Congrats on yet another jaw-dropping and beautiful show (the dresses are made of toilet paper!), on being the champions for a cause that impacts so many and taking meaningful steps in affecting change.

Tiff! It’s a wild time in the city…I am originally a Montrealer so I used to pop in to the festival and pop out. Now that Toronto is home, I get to live and breathe the energy…and opening night was no exception! It was an amazing mix of all my worlds: dentsu, Tag, the Morning Show (my fam!), my husband’s work, our friends and all the fashion! It’s amazing what this incredible city and country brings to film and filmmakers with our festival that originally started out as the little engine that could. Well, today it’s clear that it’s the place to be, to be seen and of course to experience cutting edge creativity, epic events, and meet interesting folks from so many different industries.
The Highlights for me:
- Walking the red carpet with my hubby (the star that he is)
- Planning a kitchen karaoke night (challenge accepted Carolyn MacKenzie )
- walking out of the Warner Bros party and getting to see you Tychon J. Carter | Communication & Performance Coach
- Eating potato puffs by the dozen ( my partner in hors d’ouevres crime Talia Brown Thall )
- Wearing sensible shoes (highly recommend)
- Learning about CFL changes ( fashion is next Stew Johnston )
- Knowing my dentsu crew was out there (how many messages was that Demy Georgakis ?)
- and, getting to hug two of my faves on the red carpet- killing it Melony Manikavasagar Susie Wall !!

And is there anything more TIFF than the fact that all of that was in ONE day!!!

If you asked me a year ago if I thought anything would come of Lachlan’s passion…I would have said no. I would have said the kid was so unphased by rejection and so happy to just audition that I almost didn’t mind trying to juggle my three jobs, my other amazing kid and this career path Lachlan was insisting on pursuing. After countless cattle calls, incredible patience from his wonderful agent, Summer Weiler , he got a small part. A real one…and suddenly I was a stage mom, learning about “lunch” at 8:00 at night and walking into dressing rooms with my seven year old’s name on it. He loved it. And the best thing was it was a tiny part with a huge impact: a lesson that hard work pays off. Nights where he could have been playing or goofing off he was studying scripts and talking about character arcs…and let me tell you it was all him. In fact, Matt and I joked that maybe if he got rejected enough his interest would wane and we could stop running to these freaking auditions. But it didn’t phase him. Instead he enjoyed the process of pretending, honing a craft and frankly spending time just me and him. It’s amazing what a spirit that burns so bright can do- congrats on your upcoming first movie release Lachlan McGowan - your whole fam is cheering you on buddy, go get ‘em!

This is our life. Us in a bubble floating through the ups and downs and finding quiet moments in the chaos for each other (and don’t let the photo fool you, there is plenty of chaos). Happy birthday to my incredible husband. 50 years seems impossible and knowing you for half of that has been incredible. You are my everything and it’s a good thing you are a multi-tasker because turns out you are everything to so many…I love you, we love you, and I am so grateful for every moment of the 26,280,000 minutes you have lived so far and for every minute after. Happy birthday, Duder. ♥️

Lessons learning at my third year attending Cannes Lions…sure, there is literally the best networking, amazing creators and creative minds in every room, next level events and experiences and boundless inspiration…but there is also a certain type of survival that kicks in…what an experience and so grateful to all the folks I got to see, meet, connect and jam with! See ya next year 💋

I don’t often get the chance to say how grateful I am for my dad. People who know me know that he is my hero- he’s the person I can call to talk to through work stuff, ask for help with wifi that won’t function or listen as I drone on with my latest theory on monetizing AI. He’s the guy who made me keep track of my expenses one quarter at a time in a ledger sheet when I was 7 and the guy who would buy me any book I wanted so long as I read it. He was the guy I called when I needed someone to come get me at 2 am and he showed up, no questions asked. He’s the guy that sat up with me in his PJs while I cried about a sh*tty night. He’s the person who taught me to pull my weight, mean what I say and stay sharp (and have a sense of humour and humility) no matter what life throws at me. My life, my sense of self worth, my sense of safety and assurance has always been my dad. He taught me what a good man is (it’s you Matt McGowan ) and what life is truly about- joy, living in a way you can be proud of while also putting your family first. He has been a nurturing example of marriage, manhood and parenting and I am so so so grateful to be Stephen Kisber’s daughter. I am so proud of you daddy, so thankful for all you have done and continue to do and all the lessons you have taught me while somehow still maintaining a sense of generosity, grace and spiritedness. From the Daughter- happy Father’s Day, daddy. I love you. ♥️
