Bonjour à tous ! Je viens faire une petite mise à jour.

J'ai donné tout le stock que je gardais à l'Avante Women's Centre, à Bedford, pour qu'il l'utilise lors d'une prochaine vente de fripes, dont les profits serviront à acheter des paniers de Noël et autres aliments pour les personnes dans le besoin. C'est facile de renouveler les réserves lorsque l'on fait de l'échange !

J'avais ouvert le Barter Club en Estrie parce que j'avais déménagé ici, mais cela a failli tuer ma carrière immobilière qui venait d'être lancée. J'ai depuis rejoint une équipe à Montréal, où je passe maintenant au moins la moitié de la semaine. Cela m'amène à deux points :

1- Je serai bientôt disponible pour organiser des échanges de vêtements lors d'évènements privées (Montréal et Estrie) et je suis activement ouverte à aider des organismes charitables avec ce concept également. Si cela vous intéresse, faites-le moi savoir !

2- Tel que mentionné, je fais maintenant de l'immobilier à Montréal ! Si vous songez à vendre ou êtes sur le point de chercher une nouvelle maison, contactez-moi (rosemaryhosson à gmail) et il me fera plaisir de vous aider dans votre cheminement !

Hi everyone! I'm checking in with a quick update.

I donated all of the stock I was holding on to to Avante Women's Centre, in Bedford, for use in an upcoming thrift sale, the proceeds of which will go towards Christmas baskets and other food for those in need. It's easy to rebuild stock when we're trading!

I had opened Barter Club in Estrie because I moved out here but doing so almost killed my newly launched real estate career. I have since joined a team in Montreal, where I now spend at least half the week. This brings me to two points:

1- I'll soon be available to host clothing swaps at private parties and am actively open to help out charitable organizations with this concept too. If this speaks to you, let me know!

2- As mentioned, I'm now doing real estate in Montreal! If you're thinking of selling or are about to look for a new home, reach out (rosemaryhosson at gmail) and it will be my pleasure to help you on your journey!

Bonjour à tous ! J'espère que vous passez un bel hiver !

Beaucoup d'entre nous ont parlé du fait que j'avais prévu d'ouvrir une boutique à Dunham, en octobre dernier. Après avoir évalué mes expériences avec une boutique à Montréal et aux pop-ups de la Brocante du Beergarden, j'ai réalisé que je devais me concentrer sur ma carrière, d'abord et avant tout, et que, par la suite, je pourrais trouver comment faire fonctionner le Barter Club d'une manière qui soit durable pour moi.

J'ai donc deux nouvelles pour vous !

1. Sur une note plus personnelle, j'ai rejoint Royal Lepage au Sommet et, bien que je travaille toujours à la Brasserie Dunham, à temps partiel, je fais enfin ce que je voulais faire depuis des années.

2. En ce qui concerne le Barter Club, j'ai trouvé exactement ce que je sais au fond de mon cœur qu'il devrait devenir. À partir de maintenant, et jusqu'à nouvel ordre, le Barter Club est une organisation à but non lucratif.

Qu'est-ce que cela signifie pour le club ? Je vous en dirai plus dans quelques semaines, mais j'utiliserai la bannière en tandem avec une organisation caritative que je suis en train de lancer, de sorte que tous les bénéfices iront à l'aide aux femmes et aux enfants. Le seul argent que je prendrai sur les droits d'entrée servira à payer l'entreposage. Tout le reste est destiné à la charité.

Qu'est-ce que cela signifie pour vous ? Rien ne change en ce qui concerne les frais d'entrée de 20 $ et vos crédits, sauf que les crédits n'auront plus de date d'expiration. Cela signifie également que nous allons pouvoir recommencer à échanger, très bientôt ! Nous organiserons des échanges séparés, d'abord en Estrie et dans Brome Missisquoi, et lorsque l'organisation en question lancera son chapitre de Montréal, nous commencerons là aussi. Pour commencer, nous allons organiser des échanges de façon saisonnière, et voir comment ça se passe.

Les vêtements restants de chaque échange seront divisés en trois : Les vêtements endommagés ou trop usés et qui ne sont pas acceptés dans l'échange seront recyclés. Tout le reste sera divisé : la moitié sera entreposée pour le prochain échange et l'autre moitié ira directement à une organisation qui les donnera aux femmes dans le besoin, immédiatement.

Hello everyone! I hope you're having a lovely winter!

Many of us talked about the fact that I had planned on opening up boutique in Dunham, last October. After assessing my experiences with a boutique in Montreal and at the Brocante du Beergarden pop-ups, I realized I needed to focus on my career, first and foremost and that, afterward, I could figure out how to make Barter Club work in a way that is sustainable for me.

I therefore have two bits of news for you!

1. On a more personal note, I have joined Royal Lepage au Sommet and, while I still work at Brasserie Dunham, part-time, I am finally doing what I have wanted to for years.

2. With regards to Barter Club, I found exactly what I know in my heart it should become. From now on, and until further notice, Barter Club is a non-profit organization.

What does this mean for the club? I'll give you all more news in a couple of weeks, but I'll be using the banner in tandem with a charity organization I'm launching, so that all proceeds will go towards helping women and children. The only money I will take from entrance fees will pay for storage. Everything else is for charity.

What does this mean for you? Nothing changes with regards to the $20 entry fee and to your credits, except that credits will no longer have an expiry date. It also means we get to start swapping again, really soon! We will be hosting separate exchanges, in Estrie and Brome Missisquoi first, and when the organization in question launches its Montreal chapter, we'll start there too. To begin with, we'll host exchanges seasonally, and see how it goes.

Leftover clothing from each swap will be divided in three: Clothing that is damaged or too worn and that are not accepted into the swap will be recycled. Everything else will be divided, with half going back into storage for the next swap and the other half going to directly to an organization that will give them women in need, right away.

Bonjour à tous ! J'espère que vous passez un bel été !

J'ai pensé prendre un moment pour me présenter, car je ne l'ai pas fait officiellement depuis mon lancement, il y a trois ans.

Je m'appelle Rosemary Hosson, je suis née à Montréal et j'ai grandi à Montréal et à Gatineau. J'ai vécu à Ottawa, Toronto et Calgary, mais je me suis installée à Montréal en 2000, et c'est là que j'ai élevé mes deux enfants, lorsque je suis devenue maman, à 20 ans.

J'ai géré et booké des bands, fait du deejaying et travaillé dans diverses industries, mais j'ai deux grandes passions professionnelles. J'ai étudié en design de mode et j'ai créé quelques collections de vêtements, j'ai lancé une agence de courtage et de conseil en mode et j'ai été styliste et consultante en habillage pendant une décennie avant de lancer The Barter Club dans l'appartement voisin du mien, à Griffintown. Je me suis lancée dans ce projet cinq semaines après avoir perdu ma mère de 56 ans à la suite d'un cancer du sein et, en plus de devenir un lieu magique où nous avons construit une communauté, tout en plongeant dans un puits éternel de vêtements et de chaussures, c'était un endroit où je guérissais et où je me connectais avec d'autres personnes qui avaient été touchées de la même manière que moi.

En même temps, j'ai décidé de revenir à mon autre amour, l'immobilier. --Après avoir assisté plusieurs des meilleurs courtiers de luxe du Québec pendant près de dix ans, j'ai décidé que c'était à mon tour d'en devenir un. Travailler comme assistante dans une firme, étudier et gérer le club était trop et, quelques mois avant le COVID, j'ai fermé la boutique.

L'an dernier, j'ai rencontré quelqu'un qui vit dans les Cantons de l'Est et je suis tombé en amour. En avril, je suis enfin devenue courtière et, deux mois plus t**d, j'ai décidé de déménager dans la région, pour me rapprocher de mon partenaire et pour prendre un nouveau départ à bien des égards. Il m'a fallu très peu de temps pour réaliser qu'il était temps pour moi de rouvrir Le Club de Troc ; je suis sûre qu'il prospèrera dans cet environnement, avec ces gens merveilleux !

C'est un peu de moi et où j'en suis ! Je suis maman d'un chien, je soulève des poids, je suis sobre, je prends une éternité pour sortir un podcast sur lequel je travaille, et j'ai de nombreux hobbies et projets annexes qui me permettent de rester épanouie et heureuse ! Je suis enthousiaste quant à l'avenir du Club de Troc et aussi pour moi, personnellement, et en tant que courtier immobilier ! Et, en parlant de ce dernier, mon territoire est actuellement les Cantons de l'Est ET Montréal, alors n'hésitez pas à me contacter si vous voulez travailler avec moi dans cette capacité, aussi ;)

Hello everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful summer!

I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself, as I haven't officially done so since launching, three years ago.

My name is Rosemary Hosson and I was born in Montreal and raised in Montreal and Gatineau. I've lived in Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary, but I settled in Montreal, in 2000, and this is where I raised my two children, when I became a mom, at 20.

I've managed and booked bands, deejayed, and worked in a variety of industries but I have two main professional loves. I studied fashion design and created a few clothing collections, started a fashion brokerage and consulting firm and styled and wardrobe consulted for a decade before launching The Barter Club in the apartment next to mine, in Griffintown. I threw myself into the project five weeks after losing my 56-year-old mother to breast cancer and, in addition to it becoming a magical place where we built community, while dipping into an eternal well of clothing and shoes, it was a place where I healed and connected with others who had been affected in the way I had.

At the same time, I decided to return to my other love, real estate. --Some of you might remember the pile of text books on the entrance table!-- After having assisted some of Quebec's top luxury brokers, for almost a decade, I decided it was my turn to become one. Working as an assistant at a firm, studying, and running the club was too much and, a few months before COVID, I shut the boutique down.

Last year, I met someone who lives in the Townships and I fell in love. In April, I finally became a broker and, a two months later, I decided to move to the region, to be closer to my partner and to start fresh in many ways. It took very little time for me to realize that it was time for me to reopen Le Club de Troc; I'm sure it will thrive in this environment, with these wonderful people!

That's a bit about me and where I'm at! I'm a dog mom, I lift weights, I love nerdy things like archery and D and D, I'm sober, I'm taking forever to release a podcast I'm working on, and I have many hobbies and side projects that keep me fulfilled and happy! I'm excited about what's next for Barter Club and also for me, personally, and as a real estate broker! And, speaking of the latter, my territory is currently the Townships AND Montreal, so don't hesitate to reach out if you want to work with me in that capacity, as well. ;)
