Based on feedback from my previous post, this pattern offers two distinct back variations, so you can tailor the dress to your personal style:

- Open back version – for a confident, edgy look with a contemporary feel

This is the journey from the original sketch to the final design.

I first sketched this dress with a regular, even hem. But once I started pattern drafting and testing it in 3D, I felt that an asymmetrical handkerchief hem would bring much more elegance and movement to the design. Seeing the final 3D render confirmed it — sometimes small changes make the biggest difference!

It’s been a while since I shared something a little fancy, so I’m excited to say this will be my next free sewing pattern. Stay tuned!

I finally sat down and made myself a proper party dress—and that’s how the Myles Dress was born.
When it comes to a last-minute party project, I have very clear rules: it has to be beautiful, party-appropriate, and SIMPLE. The kind of simple you can actually finish in just a few hours!
The Myles Dress checks all the boxes. It comes together with only a few pattern pieces and a straightforward construction process. If you’re comfortable with the basics of sewing stretch knit fabric, you’re absolutely ready for this one.
