We are so delighted with our new shipment from Foxford 🩵.

Their mill sits on the banks of the River Moy in rural County Mayo Ireland…. (Psssst: Shoutout to the All Ireland champs! 👀🎉)

Foxford has been weaving for over 130 years and we are so proud to support their brand in Canada. These new throws pay homage to the landscapes that make Ireland magnificent and are a nod to places like the Wild Atlantic Way, Croagh Patrick Mountain, Clew Bay and Newgrange.

Hi all! This is a slightly different post than our usual content but we needed to say something about it.

This morning, just as we were opening the shop, someone walked past and told one of our staff that our Irish flag was “a disgrace.” If we’re being honest, this has happened a handful of times in our 39 years of business so we figured an explanation was due.

The reality was that overnight it had wrapped itself around the pole, and there was a small tear from being out in the wind and weather. While we agree always looking their best is ideal and we replace them when needed, outdoor flags don’t stay perfect forever and we can’t monitor them 24 hours a day.

We’re not here to tell anyone what opinion they should have or how they should express it. But we do hope people remember that the person opening the door at 9:28am for a 9:30 opening is a human being too-usually juggling a hundred different jobs before the day has even properly begun. A simple “Good morning, just to let you know your flag looks like it needs replacing” would have been more than enough. We will always stand up for our staff & we feel they could’ve been treated better in this circumstance.

For example, as I was outside taking a photo for this post, our window cleaners stopped and kindly offered to help us get the flag down. That small act of kindness perfectly summed up the difference. One person chose criticism and another chose to help.

We’re incredibly proud of our Irish heritage, and our flag means a great deal to us. We’ll always do our best to keep it looking its best, but like everything outdoors, sometimes the weather gets there first.

Kindness doesn’t cost anything and it goes a very long way.
