💸 Rent is due on the first.

Forgot to pay? 😬 Don’t panic…but don’t ignore it either.

If your rent isn’t paid, your landlord may serve you an N4 Notice to End your Tenancy Early for Non-payment of Rent.

An N4 gives you a deadline to pay what you owe. It doesn’t mean you’re automatically evicted, but ignoring it can lead to your landlord applying to the Landlord and Tenant Board.

So… if you’re watching this after the first:

👀 Check your bank account.
💸 Check your rent payment.
📱 And maybe check your landlord’s messages.

Can your landlord evict you even if you’ve done nothing wrong?

Sometimes, yes.

There are fault-based and no-fault grounds for ending a tenancy in Ontario. But that doesn’t mean your landlord can simply tell you to leave — there are specific rules, notices, and processes that have to be followed.
