Schiaparelli!
A visit to the V&A Schiaparelli exhibition in London.
I wore my rendition of the famous bow knot jumper that launched Schiaparelli’s career in 1927.
I originally designed my version using a photograph from a V&A catalogue. The Armenian knitting technique results in a tweedy fabric. I used Jamieson & Smith jumper weight yarn in black and cream.
I had several questions as to how I came to own a Schiaparelli sweater 😁
The exhibition is on until November 8.

Wedding Ready!
After walking 315km/195 miles in just under 3 weeks on a recent trip to the UK, I returned to attend my nephew’s wedding. The event was held in Staffa in the middle of farmland.
I wore a four ply silk dress with handkerchief hemline. The dress was backed with silk organza and lined with silk charmeuse. The pattern was Vogue 9117. All supplies were from EOS Fabrics: Online Fabric Store Visit the EOS website to read my tutorial on how I made the garment.
I used GEHWOL Canada Callus CreamGEHWOL Canada my hiking boot feet. I wore strappy sandals to the ceremony/dinner and changed into trainers for the dance.

South Brent to Yealmpton!
Another early start as I walked through South Brent following the River Avon. It was then a steep climb straight up to Peek Moor at 1312’. Yesterday and today have been very windy up on the moors.
Views over South Hams were hazy and beautiful.
Beacon Rocks marked the top of the climb. I crossed the Moors where ‘wild’ ponies were grazing. The ponies have lived on Dartmoor for thousands of years. Local farmers manage their welfare.
Leaving Dartmoor National Park I picked up the River Erme in Ivybridge. It’s hard to believe this quiet little river will provide an adventure in two days time when I cross the mouth of it on the SWCP. An abandoned paper mill and a repurposed phone booth were spotted in Ivybridge.
Today’s walk passed through hedgerows teaming with wildflowers and new growth. More wisteria and some lovely old thatched roof cottages.
I crossed the Lower Keaton Bridge early 19thc and passed through Ermington.
I climbed the last hill of the day into Yealmpton.
28km/ 17 miles walked.

Buckfastleigh to South Brent!
An early 7am start with a visit to Buckfast Abbey, which is home to a community of RC Benedictine Monks. After the Reformation the current church was rebuilt in 1882. Early morning Lauds were being sung when I visited. The East window of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel had the most beautiful windows by Charles Norris done in 1968 using dalle de verre technique. Stunning!The church is open from 6:30am to 6pm.
In the cemetery of Holy Trinity Church the 1st Scout troop of Buckfastleigh created this Remembrance Day poppy memorial using painted plastic bottle bottoms attached around the tree with chicken wire.
A steady climb from Buckfastleigh up onto Dartmoor at an elevation of 1312’. My walk took me through woodland and along quiet lanes up onto the wild rugged landscape of the moors. Ponies dotted the landscape.
A highlight today was the Avon Reservoir and Dam. The reservoir was constructed in 1957, covers 59 acres and has a maximum depth of 210’. The concrete gravity dam is 725’ long with a wall height of 237’.
The woodland descent into was South Brent was beautiful with a carpet of bluebells.
My accommodation at the Station Inn and cafe in South Brent had the most delicious cakes!
13 miles/20 km walked today.
