We want to take a moment and send our sincerest and deepest condolences to the family and friends of one of our most beloved customers, Nancy Young.

Our hearts are absolutely broken, but none of us can deny that Nancy was the truest definition of an earth angel. Everytime she would stop by the shop we were always left with the biggest smiles and the fullest hearts.

Nancy was a true testament to what it meant to lead your life with kindess and love. She adored our community and the people in it. She always supported us, cheered us on, and never missed an opportunity to hype up Brogan and Andrew. Nancy lit up every inch of space with her smile and quick witt.

We will absolutely miss her visits and we send all the love and light possible to those closest to her. It was truly an honor to have known Nancy.

Hi Market Friends,

We are unfortunately closed today. On Sunday, Andrew unfortunately experienced a serious cardiac issue at home and was taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Despite continuing to do everything right, his condition doesn’t seem to ever want to give him a break. He’s very tired, very weak and now recovering at home. While we await to see cardiology and further testing, it’s imperative at this point for him to slow down further.

This definitely has been a massive blow that he didn’t need on top of everything, but we’re continuing to keep focused on what we can control.

We want to send out a massive Thank You to everyone who checked in on Andrew yesterday after we had to unexpectedly shut down a little early.

Despite it being Saturday, Andrew’s incredible specialist saw us today to discuss the most recent round of testing done in Halifax. When we say we have been blessed with the most incredible team and individuals in our healthcare system we truly mean it.

While we were very excited to find out that Andrew sight problems and temporary random loses of his sight are not due to any type of permanent damage he’s suffered from his strokes or DKA (thank you universe for that blessing) it does mean that we are dealing with a neurological disorder that is likely causing restricted blood flow somewhere in the brain. Due to the severe concussion and damage from the car accident back in June, this will be treated as an urgent/emergency referral, which means hopeful answers and prognosis sooner.

While we are super proud of the incredible commitment Andrew has made is managing his health, diet and insulin since the DKA and autoimmune disorder, his body is still fighting extreme levels of inflammation and pain. Since Andrew’s DKA his immune system has sent into an over active status that results in facial hives when his body is under any kind of stress. So we are also now off to rheumatology and Immunology in Halifax to explore if the neurological disorder is tied to these symptoms or if they are secondary to the extreme conditions his body suffered during DKA.

Andrew’s greatest strength is to always smile and meet everyone with kindness even when he’s struggling or feeling under the weather. He certainly misses the shop immensely, and each and everyone of you. We hate having to be closed today but it’s what is necessary.

From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You! Though we’ve been away from the downtown and haven’t been able to celebrate with you, we wish all the Happiest Pride Week in CBRM and we hope you’re rocking out to North Sydney Dockside Days Festival and celebrating what an incredible community we are!

We look forward to being back to regular programming sooner than later.

Hello Market Friends!

Unfortunately, Andrew is feeling under the weather and will be closing up early today.

We’ll have reduced hours tomorrow as he has a specialist appointment. We’ll keep you posted on the hours for tomorrow!
