Using the scraps

Tried a new piecing method using 1 1/2 and 2 inch squares…..fused into light weight interfacing before sewing to get easy corner matchups.

It’s fun and satisfying to use scraps and remember making bigger projects with them — especially quilts that were made during family sewing retreats! And recycled denim is always so interesting, I’ll be making more if these for sure.

I’ve made a small flotilla of “something fishy” pouches for the North Shore Art Crawl this upcoming weekend —-Oct 3, 4 and 5. The Coach house collective will be open Friday night 7-9 for serious fishers and others looking for the best selection of fun and unique items by North Shore Artists and Artisans…. Tell your friends!

The orange fish is made from a vintage Japanese Obi gifted to me by a friend; leather bits are scrap from upholstery makings.

Vintage Japanese Garments — recycled! A friend emailed me from Japan, as while clearing out their Grandmother’s house they found a stash of her traditional clothing. She asked me if I’d like to have them or else they would go to the landfill! “Indeed, I would” I replied and I’m thrilled and honored to clean and re-use these wonderful textiles. Some are well-worn, and that’s OK. Age adds character. Oh such fun, more to come. DM me if you see something you want or have a special request.

Two-tone tote of tanned textile…..clean and simple. Water resistant lining, smooth leather, cheerful and functional. A handy clip adds a bit of security. Too bad it’s for someone else!!!! Hope she likes it. 🥰
