This orange ribbon skirt was made to represent all of the children who were taken to residential school and never made it back home. Robbed of their childhoods and culture. I myself am often faced with colonized mindsets and ideologies everyday. I wanted to go with Orange to honour Phyllis Webstad. She was only 6 years old when she was stripped of her brand new orange shirt at St Joseph residential school in 1973. The bottom of the skirt represent all of the lost moments and memories with their families children had to lose in order to assimilate to Candian society.
