👓 August is Children's Eye Health & Safety Month! 💙

Your child's eyes are working hard every single day - whether they're learning in the classroom, reading their favourite books, scoring goals on the field, or exploring the world around them.

Regular comprehensive eye exams are one of the best ways to support healthy vision and catch concerns early, even before your child notices a problem. Early detection can make a big difference in your child's development, learning, and confidence.

This month is also a great reminder to help protect young eyes by encouraging safe play, wearing protective eyewear when needed, limiting UV exposure with quality sunglasses, and taking regular breaks from screens.

👁️ August is National Eye Exam Month! 👁️

When was your last comprehensive eye exam?

At Parkview Optometry, your eye exam is about so much more than updating your glasses prescription. During your visit, we'll take the time to thoroughly assess your vision and eye health using a variety of tools and tests, including:

✨ Autorefraction to provide a starting point for your prescription
✨ A prescription check to fine-tune your vision for the clearest, most comfortable results
✨ Optomap retinal imaging to capture a detailed view of the back of your eye
✨ A slit lamp examination to carefully examine the front of your eyes and overall eye health

🌫️ If you've noticed the smoky skies around Durham Region lately, your eyes may be feeling it too.

Poor air quality can leave your eyes feeling dry, irritated, watery, itchy, or like there's something stuck in them. If you've been reaching for your sunglasses even on cloudy days or rubbing your eyes more than usual, the smoke could be the culprit!

One of the easiest ways to keep your eyes comfortable is by using a preservative-free lubricating eye drop like Thealoz Duo. It helps hydrate and protect the surface of your eyes when environmental conditions are less than ideal.
