GUAC FOR GRIFF ⚡️

Not my idea.. but an idea that came to life from a friend of mine who has the kindest heart. For those of you who don’t know Lone Star holds a super special place in my heart. When I moved to Ottawa + I was going to university I started working at the Lonestar here which is where my husband + I met

fast-forward many years in life we ended up dating. Shortly after that, Lone Star became a staple in our family any time we would be separated or have a long hospital stay because it was immediately the meal that Griff wanted when he got out of the hospital or when we were reunited at home

I also met while working at Lone Star. However, completely unaware of this special meaning + the added significance it held in our lives, he approached me last summer with an idea to honour Griff + support Pediatric oncology research

after extensive work, a thoughtfully curated plan + the perfect pitch he approached the team at Lone Star head office where he works with the idea..

Griff would be so proud, so honoured, so excited to have been a part of this. Thank you to everyone who shared, ate + supported this amazing initiative. 1$ from everything table side Guac, donated to a special place.. The Griffin Bell Golden Endowment Fund ⚡️

~ isolation

really, navigating childhood cancer with your child can feel isolating, deeply isolating, like you’re carrying something no one else can truly understands

with that diagnosis often comes true isolation.. a neutropenic fever that lands you quite literally in isolation because your child doesn’t even have an ounce of an immune system to fight off anything.. the common cold could be what kills them or.. transplant. Purposely killing their whole immune system to then rebuild it in hopes you kill what’s trying to kill them

yet, inside those walls of isolation memories are made

those days divided our family, one at the hospital one at home for days on end.. or months

I cherish those moments we spent inside those walls, as heartbreaking as it was at the time.. we spent time, alone, together

looking back, those moments were my favourite because he needed me + I needed him. Every moment, together

then came the days when we were able to return home as family.. those days were my favourite

I miss them ⚡️
