It’s hard to put into words exactly what I’m feeling after being invited to be the first to plunk down some money for bao this evening at .

Joy, awe, delight, humility, nostalgia (gaaawd SO MUCH NOSTALGIA!!!), and gratitude. So much gratitude.

Gratitude for all the 47 years of my life that I spent in that space, gratitude for all the love and support that was showered on me in my time there and so, so much gratitude to Tarek and Emily for their grace, generosity and for including me in their experience so I could have all the closure I wanted for mine.

They owed me and my family nothing. And they’ve included us in everything.

That will tell the people of Ottawa, and especially the great people of Centretown, everything they need to know about our city’s and neighbourhood’s newest entrepreneurs.

Gongfu Bao will be a place that cares. A place that gives back. A place that respects. And yes, a place that serves FANTASTIC HANDMADE BAO AND DELICIOUS FOOD!!!

I strongly encourage all the wonderful Friends of Aziz who loved and supported us through 53 years of business at 365 Bank Street to come back asap ☮️💟🕉

It’s changed a little, but the feeling of home is still very much there. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

So many people have so kindly asked or messaged me as to where they can find some of the beautiful items we used to sell at Aziz&Company and I happily tell them this - at Herb & Spice Shop - just steps from our old front stoop!

We are SO delighted that for at least one more Christmas season you can all still enjoy some of the colour, culture and consciousness that we were so proud to share for over 50 years, at our neighbour’s place just down the block.

Colin White is a local Ottawa artist who, among his many beautiful, detailed and spirited works has done three VERY LIMITED EDITION prints of our sweet little shop, one from the west, one from the north and one kitty corner.

He has done ONLY 20 prints of each, and I know for a fact, there are only 19 of each remaining ;) , so in case you would like to have one or more of these heart warming memories of Aziz&Company, you should probably order quickly
