When it came time to choose a mark for Saddle & Roam, I kept coming back to the horseshoe. Inspired by the one that hangs over my door, and of course, horses. Look closely and you’ll find an S and an R folded into the curve of the logo - but really the shoe is the whole point. Everything that leaves the shop carries one, prongs up. A little reserve of luck and protection, in case you need it.

I love hearing stories about people trying, failing, starting over, making terrible versions before they made great ones. Not because I enjoy watching people struggle - but because it reminds me that nobody comes out of the womb excellent at anything.
Every artist, athlete, designer, maker… they practiced. Repeatedly. Badly at first. Publicly sometimes. And then one day, after enough persistence, something clicks.
A year ago, I walked away from a 17-year career in finance to see if I could figure this out for myself. Not because I had everything mapped out - honestly, most days it feels like I’m building the plane while flying it - but because I couldn’t stop thinking about making things with my hands.
Now I’m deepening my craftsmanship while learning storytelling, marketing, websites… all at once. Some days are frustrating. Some are humbling. Some make me question my sanity entirely.
But then I finish a bag that I love. A piece that will soften with time, gather scratches, travel somewhere beautiful, and become part of someone’s life. And suddenly the remakes, mistakes, and long nights feel worth it.
That’s the bridge, I think, between “the greats” and the rest of us: persistence. Not perfection. Just the willingness to keep practicing long enough to get good.
Anyway. Back to the workshop

Some of my bags have seen more of the world than I have. Strapped onto belts, crossing trails in countries I haven’t gotten to yet, attached to people with considerably better vacation plans than me. Keep your phone within reach out there! If you’ve ridden somewhere worth the flight, tag the company that took you there. Let’s help everyone else plan their escape. 📍
