I promise market season flips a switch in my brain long before the actual dates show up on the calendar. I see a booth deadline in the distant future and suddenly I’m crocheting like it’s right around the corner. No stress — just that happy, buzzing energy that shows up when I’m excited about what I’m making.

There’s something really fun about prepping early… watching the little pile of plushies grow, planning colors, imagining how everything will look on the table. It turns the whole process into something joyful instead of rushed. I get to enjoy every stitch without feeling squeezed for time, and honestly? That’s my favorite way to work.

If loving market prep this much is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

I’ve had Bramble sitting on my desk since his release yesterday, and every time I walk past him he somehow looks even cuter. There’s just something about his round little belly, his soft chunky shape, and that big flat tail that makes him feel extra huggable.

I’m not in a rush with this. I’m not trying to “blow up” or hit some milestone overnight. I just want to build something that lasts… something that feels like it actually fits my life instead of taking it over.

There’s something really comforting about that slow, steady kind of growth. It gives me room to breathe, room to learn, and room to make adjustments without feeling like everything has to be perfect right away.

This path might take longer, but it feels right. And that matters more to me than anything fast ever could.

It always starts so innocently… I sew the last stitch, hold up the newest little cutie, feel that spark of “oh my goodness look how adorable you are,” and before I can even set it down, my hands are already reaching for the next color of yarn.

And that’s usually the exact moment my stomach realizes it has been abandoned.

I don’t mean to forget meals — I genuinely intend to be a functional adult — but the momentum takes over, the ideas won’t wait, and suddenly I’m three plushies deep wondering why I feel slightly hollow inside. Then it hits me: right. Food. That thing humans need.

Crochet brain is a powerful force, and honestly? I think it’s winning.

I didn’t grow up in a world where time was treated like something valuable. When you’re raised in a lower-income family — and you learn to do everything yourself out of necessity — it changes the way you see your own work. You start believing that because you can figure it out, it must not be worth much.

And honestly? That mindset followed me for years.

It made me undercharge.
It made me apologize for my prices.
It made me treat my own skill like it was nothing special — just something anyone could do if they tried hard enough.

But here’s the thing I had to unlearn:
being capable doesn’t make your work cheap.
It makes you skilled.
It makes you someone who invested time, patience, mistakes, experience, and heart into something others cannot replicate just by wanting to.

I had to realize that charging too little wasn’t humble — it was harmful.
It diminished my time.
It dismissed my experience.
And it quietly sent a message to every other crochet artist that our work shouldn’t be valued.

Learning to price my work fairly wasn’t just a business shift. It was a personal one.
A healing one.
A reclaiming of worth I didn’t always know I had.

And because I know how hard this is — the mindset, the math, the fear of “charging too much” — I’m going to start breaking it down here.
Real numbers, real examples, real conversations about hourly rates, materials, time, and how to price without guilt.

Stepping into full-time crochet is such a strange mix of excitement and uncertainty. There’s no handbook, no perfectly mapped-out path… just me showing up every day, doing the work, and learning what this actually looks like in real life.

Most people tell their story once they’ve reached the finish line. I’m sharing mine while I’m still taking the steps — while I’m testing ideas, making mistakes, adjusting, and slowly finding my rhythm.

It’s messy in some ways and really meaningful in others, and I’m honestly enjoying letting this unfold without needing it to look perfect first.

I’ve been working on a new little friend, and he finally feels ready to wander out into the world… almost. Before Bramble makes his official debut, I’d love a few crocheters to help me test the pattern and make sure everything feels clear, cozy, and fun to follow.

He’s a chunky, snuggly woodland buddy with that big flat tail, soft round belly, and the sweetest expression — the kind of plush that immediately gets scooped up every time. If you enjoy working with velvet-style yarns and love low-sew makes, Bramble is a pure joy to stitch.

Looking for testers who can:

– Follow written instructions (US terms)
– Offer gentle, helpful feedback if anything feels unclear

There’s something so special about watching a new design come together — that moment when the shapes start to make sense, the personality shows up, and suddenly you’re attached in a way you did not plan for. That’s exactly what happened here. Pure joy from start to finish.
