Cute as a button! A sneak peak look at a custom- made to measure shirt dress for a sweet mother of the bride.
I made the shirt dress in the a gorgeous linen that will only get softer with each wash. The look has been elevated with accessories. The beautiful pearl necklace and matching earrings are by Eleanor Martin and l created the fuchsia suede wristlet to pick up the pinks in the print.

Shirt dresses are always a great choice because a second look can be created by wearing the piece unbuttoned with a top and pants.

My lovely customer is a true petite in size and this photo demonstrates that custom designed garments are about proper proportion and fit.

The new luxury is having clothing made just for you! It’s really the way most clothing was made over a century ago. Less clothing in your closet but pieces that easily work with each other and last for years not one season.

Lovely Claire is wearing a custom designed and made silk shantung tailored shirt. This piece was originally made to attend a wedding but this beautiful piece is now on repeat wear every time she has an occasion or event to attend. No season and no trend! I have been making this tailored tunic shirt in silks and linens for over 15 years without any changes.

I made Claire’s leather stripe tote over 20 years ago.

I will be talking about how to curate your wardrobe and the best pieces to invest in during our upcoming fashion show on September 17 from 6-8 pm . This is a fundraiser for The Hospice Hub . A small number of tickets are still on sale and are available at Fashion Envy.

‘ Deep Water Blues’ is the name of the art wear coat that I have created for 200 Tunics Tunic Show 2026 from a linen tunic that I was given months ago in preparation for Saturday’s exhibition at The Mississippi Textile Museum in Almonte from 4-8 pm. This is a free event.

The inspiration for this idea is the an imaginary abyss of what lies beneath my kayak while l am paddling the lakes and rivers in our beautiful area of Eastern Ontario. The waters remain a deep blue and the hand painted areas represent the clouds reflecting into the water.

From the moment I began this journey of the tunic, I knew that I was going to take apart the tunic and piece it back together using my vast collection of leather scraps! The textile techniques that I have used to create this one of a kind coat are collage, appliqué, hand painted suede and quilting. The outer collaged top was quilted to a layer of bamboo/ cotton batting in order to maintain a similar weight of the linen and leather.

In my commitment to sustainability, this coat and bag are made from left over scraps of leather and suede and I used all of the linen tunic in my design. The wristlet bag is made from practice pieces.

I hope to see you on Saturday in Almonte for what should be an unusual and interesting experience!
