Rolling home on Metrolinx at last! It’s been a long summer away from home
Finishing the last of my summer busy projects — finished the toes of a pair of socks and sewn in all the ends and now stitching the last few scraps on my scrappy basket while listing to This American Life
Time to start new projects for fall — and to get back to shipping orders for our business! 💕🙏💕

So after several weeks of suspension, Etsy has allowed me to reopen my shop as long as I promise to be good and not tell Canadian shoppers about shopping from my site where I’m not legally required by our government to charge taxes because ( believe it or not) I’m not making enough money.
So that’s good
And at the same time, found this brick while cleaning up my moms back yard. A good reminder in these whackamole times

So Etsy has suspended our account but not sent any emails to say why they have 🤪🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe it was all those alligator Alcatraz stickers I reported as hate speech? But never seemed to get de-listed? Or? I’ll probably never know.
I guess if you want weigh slings you’ll need to hit me up old school with a dm or a visit to our home site like the good old days. And if you’re Canadian you won’t need to pay taxes

(Funny thing. The last email I got from Etsy a few days ago was that I was a 🌟)

Rainy Sunday back in the sewing shed for a few days to catch up on orders. Feeling the Sisyphean irony of working away sewing to pay taxes for our country to invest in the support of foreign unholy wars while I donate part of my retained earnings to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) so they can patch up those maimed on both sides of the conflicts ( when the occupying force allows them to do this safely) . As they say, there is nothing we can count on like death and taxes. Mark Carney — can we cut out the misery of this painful economic loop?

Upgraded shipping sleeve with a patchwork inspired by Kate Jackson and made from quilt trimming crumbs left over from blocks made of midwifery weighsling offcuts 🪡🧵(salvage once, salvage twice 🙃)

Slow stitching on my Dresden quilt made from Cloud9 Fabrics off cuts that I started two years ago with a sew along hosted by Meander + Make ( slooooowww stitching)
Every line drawn, piece cut, stitch sewn by hand. Using broken pencil leads sharpened with the knife I inherited from my dad, and sewing with needle pricked fingers .
Because something in this messed up world needs to have meaning, and to leave us with scars of memory
