Quilts don’t just happen.

There’s a lot of planning involved to make just the right fabric combinations. Today was all about figuring out the Lights and Darks and creating the best contrasts.

A lot is intuitive to me… but also requires photos back and forth with my creative friends!

THIS IS THE BACK

The back of this quilt is just as pretty as the front so this tag is a cute embellishment. Each of the coloured fabrics are leftovers from the fabric used on the front of the quilt. Each small scrap was arranged to create a new pattern and the result is stunning.

The only fabric remaining from this quilt is the small 2x2 inch square that I couldn’t fit into my grid and a long 1 inch strip I mis-cut. Both will be saved and added to my scraps for another project.

This sweet little lap sized quilt is a 3 Yard Quilt from the book Quilts in a Jiffy by

The border was a lucky find in a bag of scraps from my Quilt Group and it really ties the colours all together.

These colours are outside my usual choices of crazy 🌈 but they sing all the same in the Spring sun.

This quilt was STITCHED WITH L🩷VE.

A fellow Guild member showed a similar quilt that become my inspiration for the design.

Quilt Block: Potato Chip Block 12x12 inches

Many thanks to all my Quilty friends who sifted through photo after photo with suggestions on colour layout (you know who you are 😉)

Scrappy String Quilts have stolen my heart!

This time I included sashing (the blue denim borders) and used a Quilt As You Go/QAYG technique as outlined in one of videos which allowed me to make the entire quilt on my own (rather than send the “quilt sandwich” to someone else to finish).

There was lots of learning in this quilt and I’m thankful for my friend cheering me on to the end.

I’m chasing sunlight today to get some SOCK photos.

This Bearfoot sock yarn from is a new one for me and I am thrilled with the results.

This yarn is 60% Superwash Wool, 25% Mohair, 15% Nylon. The added mohair gives a nice halo as seen in the close up photo.

These socks will be a great addition to your Fall/Winter sock line up.

I just finished this LOVE-ly pillow from book Crumb Quilts.

The letters are made out of tiny scraps or “crumbs” to create new scrappy piece of fabric and the entire pillow is made using another quilter’s leftover fabric.

The pillow was quilted using the Free Motion technique and is covered with twirls and swirls to keep the layers of fabric in place.

This pillow truly is a “something from nothing” make and I LOVE it.
