Updated schedule for my remaining events in 2026!

I just want to say a huge thank you to all the communities that have welcomed me this year, whether it was to share my story, run my Indigenous Business Workshop, or hit the ice for a hockey camp. I’ve had an amazing time visiting each community, and I hope to make it back again in 2027!

As we head into the final few months of 2026, I’m currently in talks with a few event organizers, but I still have some dates available until they’re officially booked.

I wanted to share a story here that I told this past week when I was speaking to a room full of indigenous youth hockey players. So I use gold coloured No Name hockey sticks when I’m on the ice and I gave away these gold one pieces at the Little Native Hockey League tourney a few months ago. When one of the kids asked me about them at the event a few days ago I shared why I got them and why I use them now, so I want to share it here.

When I was a kid growing up on my community of Sturgeon Lake First Nation, I didn’t have the nicest hockey equipment. My grandpa bought most of my gear from the pawn shops in PA because that’s what he could afford at that time. I was proud to play hockey, but I also knew I was one of the only native kids out there on the ice.

When I first started playing hockey in Prince Albert, I dealt with racism and me not ever dealing with that before I didn’t know how to handle it. Some kids judged me before they even knew me. They saw an Indigenous kid with old equipment and made assumptions about who I was.

Then one Christmas, I asked my dad for one thing, The new gold Easton aluminum hockey stick that just came out that year. It was something I heard my teammates talking about in the dressing room but they would also mention how expensive it was. After practice one day I asked my dad Daryl if he could take me to look at it, he bought it on the spot.

I still remember walking into the rink with that gold stick, getting into the dressing room and coming in late so everyone would see me. Everyone’s eyes opened when I walked in. The same kids who barely talked to me suddenly wanted to know where I got it. They wanted to hold it. They wanted to shoot with it. They didn’t think me, the Rez kid could actually afford it, but I made sure they seen me.

For the first time, I started making friends. I got invited to birthday parties, to hang out after hockey, and I finally felt like I was part of the team.

Looking back now, it’s kind of sad in a way that a hockey stick could change how people treated me.
Today, every time you see me carrying a gold hockey stick at one of my talks or hockey camps, it’s because of that little Rez kid.

Those gold sticks I use now and bring with me to events it’s a reminder of where I came from and why I do what I do. Now with the smudge celly going viral I gave gold hockey sticks to Indigenous youth at a few events I was at and got to see them smile the moment they got it in their hands.

I try think that maybe it’s the first piece of equipment they’ve ever been proud to own or maybe it gives them confidence and maybe it reminds them that they belong in every arena they walk into.

Thank you Saskatoon Tribal Council (STC) and Dave Greyeyes for inviting me out to speak and step on the ice with your deadly hockey players from your communities!! There were players that played AAA , Junior A, Pro and all the ages from U18 and down, I even got to meet up with an old bro Aaron Starr who I played against back in the MJHL. Learning more about the hockey program that STC offers their youth was such an amazing thing to hear, amazing job everyone involved 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Just finished the amazing event out here in Tobique First Nation NB and getting ready to head back to Alberta tomorrow morning! Just added two events today to the 2026 schedule, one up in Tataskweyak Manitoba to be part of their youth conference with so many deadly speakers and workshops and the other in Edmonton for the National Indigenous Youth Conference 2026. Looking forward to travelling to the communities coming up and those that have reached out, thank you for everything!
