🌟 : Skanii Athletics 🌟

Meet Erica McLean, founder of Skanii Athletics, an Indigenous-owned athletic apparel brand built on strength, resilience, and purpose.

The Skanii journey began with Erica's self-published book, From the Rez to the Mountaintop: Becoming Who We're Meant to Be, a powerful reflection on finding your voice, embracing your strength, and becoming the person you're meant to be. Today, that message lives on through Skanii Athletics, where every product is designed to inspire confidence, movement, and self-belief.

Skanii Athletics offers high-quality apparel for the gym, court, field, or yoga studio. Featuring minimalist branding and subtle coastal formline designs, the brand proudly reflects Erica's Indigenous roots and the lands that have shaped her journey.

As a mother, educator, and youth coach, Erica has dedicated her life to helping others recognize their potential. Inspired by her children and driven to create opportunities for future generations, she transformed her vision into a growing business that empowers people to pursue their goals and break barriers.

Building a business while balancing full-time and part-time work required determination, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. Support from the Indigenous Women's Entrepreneurship (IWE) Program helped bring Erica's vision to life through funding, guidance, and valuable resources.

Today, Erica continues to grow Skanii Athletics with purpose, guided by community, self-mastery, and the belief that we are all capable of more than we imagine.

Skanii Athletics:

Because we have a why, we can endure almost any how.
Because this is driven by what’s on the inside, we don’t need to compare ourselves to what’s going on out there.
Because we’ve trained for thousands of hours in the gym, showing up on the stage or in the front of the class doesn’t seem so scary.
Because we look confident on the outside, it doesn’t mean it’s not scary or doesn’t hurt internally.

This isn’t about just sport. If you can love the whole part of any path then I would love to follow your story and see where you end up because the common thread in all of this is the consistency in showing up through the unknowns, the losses, the insecurities… all of it. If you can love your whole story, then I can’t wait to see what you become.
