I'm back from Montreal, and it's time to shake off the jet lag! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

After a spectacular trip, a 10K, a half marathon, and plenty of wandering around Old Montreal, you'd think my legs would be ready for a break. Apparently, I have other plans! πŸ˜‚

Runner Highlight!!!!

I keep looking at Mich Ochieng’s Labour Day Classic results, and the more I look, the more extraordinary they become.

Mich won the men’s marathon in 2:56:50. On the Prince George course. With its climbs, changing surfaces and long stretch out North Nechako Road. That course asks you to work for every kilometre, and Mich held an average pace of roughly 4:11 per kilometre all the way to the finish.

He was 24 minutes and 27 seconds ahead of second place. When Mich crossed the line, the next man still had nearly half an hour of running ahead of him. That is a commanding win over 42.2 km.

But the part I can’t stop thinking about is what happened between last year and this year.

Mich ran the same event in 4:42:12 last year. This year: 2:56:50. That is 1 hour, 45 minutes and 22 seconds faster. His average pace improved by about two and a half minutes on every single kilometreβ€”and he carried that faster pace for the full marathon.

Think about what that takes. Finding that much more speed is one thing. Building the endurance to hold it through the hills, through the hard kilometres, and right to the end of a marathon is something else entirely. That result represents an incredible amount of dedication, and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.

Mich, I am over the moon for you. Your win was spectacular. Your progress is awe-inspiring. Congratulations! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Just because I'm away doesn't mean you get the night off! πŸ˜‚

Hope everyone still gets together for a great run and a few laughs!

I'd like to say I'll be thinking of you all while you're out running tonight, but chances are I'll be somewhere in Old Montreal enjoying a good craft b**r! πŸ»πŸ˜‚

Have a great run, everyone! Put in a few kilometres for me, and I'll have a b**r for you! 🍺❀️

πŸ₯Ύ Thank you, Trail Run Tuesday crew! 🧑

A huge thank you to everyone who has joined us for Trail Run Tuesday!

We’ve explored some spectacular local trails, tackled climbs, technical sections and plenty of different terrain. But what I’ve enjoyed most is watching people become more comfortable and confident on the trails β€” and seeing this little trail-running community grow along the way.

Whether you joined us once or came out week after week, thank you for being part of it. Thank you for the laughs, for encouraging each other, for trying something new and for making Tuesday nights something I genuinely look forward to.

And apparently, you aren't quite ready to be finished yet. πŸ˜‚

I’ve had enough people asking about continuing Trail Run Tuesday that I’m thinking we might just have to keep this going a little longer!

I’m off to Montreal for my run, so we’ll take a short break while I’m away. Once I’m back, keep an eye on the page β€” if the interest is still there, Trail Run Tuesday will be too. 🧑🌲

Thank you for a spectacular season so far. Maybe we’re not quite done yet. πŸ˜‰

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŒ² REASON 2 RISE β€” TRAIL ETIQUETTE & RACE MORNING INFO

I know this is a long post, but please take the time to read if you are participating in Reason 2 Rise.

Race day is almost here! With runners travelling in both directions on sections of trail β€” and the park still open to other users β€” there are a few things everyone needs to know before we head out.

TRAIL ETIQUETTE

🌲 Be aware of other park users. We are sharing these trails. Please be courteous to hikers and anyone else enjoying the park.

πŸƒ Communicate before passing. Let the runner ahead know that you are coming up and intend to pass. Don't assume they know you're there.

↔️ If you are being passed, make room when it is safe to do so. Move to the side of the trail and give the passing runner enough room to get by safely.

⬇️ Downhill runners have right of way over runners climbing.

🏁 Runners returning toward the finish line have right of way over runners still heading toward their turnaround.

➑️ If you are still heading OUT and see a returning runner approaching, move to your right and give them room to pass.

🌲 Use some common sense out there. If you see a runner coming toward you and you're standing in a good passing spot with a narrow or difficult section ahead, wait where you are and let them reach you. Don't meet each other in the worst possible place to pass.

⚠️ Don't force a pass. If there isn't enough room to pass safely, wait a few seconds until there is.

πŸ—‘οΈ Leave nothing behind. Gel wrappers, tabs, bottles and anything else you carry onto the trail needs to come back out with you.

πŸ“ Stay on the marked race route.

And above everything else β€” be kind. We're all out there to have a spectacular day on the trails. A quick "on your left," "thank you," or a few words of encouragement go a long way.

PARKING πŸš—

Parking at Stubbington Road is available, but please park ONLY on the right-hand side of the road so traffic can continue to move safely through the area.

It's approximately a 2-minute walk from Stubbington Road to the start line.

Parking directly at the trailhead is extremely limited and will be reserved for race volunteers and other park users.

BIB PICKUP 🎽

Bib pickup is race morning from 9:00–9:55 AM.

Please give yourself enough time to park, walk to the start, pick up your bib and be ready to go.

WARM CLOTHING πŸ§₯

It can be chilly standing around before the race, so bring those warm layers!

We will have an unattended table where runners can leave clothing while they're on the course. Please understand that we will not be tagging or keeping track of individual belongings, and Reason 2 Run cannot be responsible for items left on the table.

Please remember to collect everything after your race. Clothing left behind will not be stored after the event.

A little trail courtesy from all of us will make race day safer β€” and a whole lot more enjoyable β€” for everyone.

See you Sunday at the Pinnacles! πŸŒ²πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
