Morning Walk with Aussie 🐾

Morning walks after the kids head off to school is when I clear my head and get ready for the day.

Wearing my red Golas and my favourite rain jacket from Rains. Tall girlies this one is a must-have. I’ve never found a rain jacket with sleeves long enough and enough coverage so I stay dry.

I’ve worn this jacket more than any other jacket I own to sporting events, dog walks, and everyday errands. I’m not an umbrella girl, so this jacket has honestly been a game changer for me.

Aussie’s leash is from .dog one of downtown St. Catharines little shops.❤️

There’s a soft Euro ease to it, like a season where familiar things are simply worn with more feeling.

The Tokyo sits right alongside the Boston in that same iconic clog story. Same comfort, same shape people already love. The backstrap is just a quiet detail that adds to the way it feels on foot, secure, easy, natural, without changing what it is.

Loving this last quiet Saturday morning before baseball season starts full force 🤍⚾️

Coffee in my newly painted mug (Crock A Doodle St.Catharines), cozy house, refusing to do laundry and my Micro Mini Uggs on… honestly, it’s the simple moments.

I don’t know about you, but I get the coldest feet, so I find sheepskin is a must for me. It’s the kind of comfort you don’t want to take off once they’re on.

Do you love trying new experiences? Are you drawn to the energy of a city, or the peace of slow country living?

The truth is, we’re all built differently. What I really love is a bit of both. Slow days at home with my family… and time spent downtown, especially in a place that feels like home to me downtown St.Catharines.

The Boot Shop has been on James Street since 2006, but my grandfather started The Boot Shop on 211 St. Paul street downtown since in 1942. My kids have grown up loving downtown too. And yes I bring them downtown. Because this is what community looks like: shopping local, eating local, and serving the people around you.

Our market alone is something magical. Fresh local produce, flowers, incredible meats and cheeses—it’s like a slower, more meaningful version of a grocery store But here, you meet the people who grew it, made it, and brought it to life. You hear their stories. It is also super fresh. That’s the difference.

James Street is truly unique.

From our boutique, carefully curated to create a slow, intentional shopping experience at Garden City Essentials for natural, head-to-toe care (their deodorant is a must). Grab a coffee and a treat at Christopher’s, wander through Mind Bomb Records and flip through vinyls,then sit down for lunch at Helen’s, home cooking at its best. Finish your day with flowers from The Watering Can. Their Vineland location is beautiful, but there’s something so special about their James Street shop, so many memories, so many conversations.

Just don’t come in a rush.

Come when you have time. Time to slow down, to connect, to experience what downtown truly is.
