The Sewist Mastering the Art of Fabric Mastering the art of fabric since 2012! I am a self taught seamstress who learned the love of sewing from my mom and grandmother.

Fabric • Patterns • Sewing supplies I love to create for my two children, and I love the fulfillment that I get when I see how much they enjoy what I make, and receive compliments from friends and strangers. I want to share that sense of accomplishment and pride with my students. The options for sewing instruction these days are limited, but the need and desire for it is great (just look at Etsy or Pinterest), I want to help make sure that the art and skill of sewing is passed onto the next generation by helping create confident, self-reliant, and skilled sewists.

If you’re new around here, welcome! Whether you’ve just found our page, are thinking about learning to sew, or have no idea where to start with a sewing machine, we’re glad you’re here.

At The Sewist, we offer sewing classes for all ages and skill levels, workshops, sewing parties, and a whole lot of fabric and supplies to fuel your next project.

Never touched a sewing machine before? That’s fine. You don’t need to know how to sew to get started, that’s what we’re here for!

Looking for something different to do for your next birthday or night out? We’ve got you covered!

We’ve revamped our Sewing Parties page with some new project options, so there’s a variety of options to choose from for kids’ birthdays, adult parties, or just a fun evening of making something together.

We provide the materials and the sewing fun, you just pick your project! Head to our website to check out the updated options and submit a booking form to get your party started. 🎉✂️

Our popular East Coast-themed fabrics are back in stock, along with a brand new strawberry print cotton that is absolutely precious. 🍓

Halloween sewing time! 🎃

Join us October 25th for a 2-hour creative kids workshop where we’ll be making fun Halloween accessories to add a little extra personality to your costume. (Option of Frog gloves, Cat ears, and a Ladybug shell!)

We just got a massive shipment of all the sewing essentials we’ve been seriously needing around here, elastic, interfacing, seam rippers, chalk pencils, (Even the snack counter 😂) Everything is back on the shelves and ready to shop, so if you’ve been waiting for something to come back in, this is your sign to come by and have a look!

If you’re tired of guessing, we can help. Our 1-hour private machine lessons are a chance to sit down one-on-one with an instructor and learn the ins and outs of your own sewing machine or serger — from threading and settings to actually feeling comfortable using it.
