Thanks to a great suggestion from a follower, this jewelry box got a clean white base coat instead of the green or brown we originally looked at.
It’s far from finished, but laying out the pieces next to it gets me so excited for the next steps. I can't wait to show you how the decoupage, stenciling, and cowhide accents bring this whole Western look to life.

I rewarded myself with a bouquet of flowers today. The temperature rose to 30 degrees Celsius. Although it was hot outside, I made a quick stop on the roadside to pick some gallardias and yarrow. The other elements were sourced from my yard. The vase, a family heirloom from my great-grandmother, makes any arrangement special. 😁

When cutting cowhide I use painter's tape along my template lines to keep the leather from stretching under the pull of the knife. It's a total game-changer for keeping those edges clean and accurate!
