The cousins are back on top! 🏆

This week, The Amazing Race Canada headed to Peterborough & the Kawarthas for a very Canadian leg filled with cottage games, canoes, turtles, butter tarts, ice cream ... and one particularly troublesome beaver. 😂

Sacha & Sébastien bounced back from last week's sixth-place finish to take FIRST PLACE, giving them their second win in five legs!

This week's recap also includes a shout-out to Chayla & Chyana, a little Indigenous history behind the canoe and why an episode called "We Got the Beaver" felt strangely personal to me.

Come along for this week's Cousin Watch!

📚 Happy National Book Lovers Day!

Confession...

When I wrote Silent as the Wild, I imagined someone curling up with a cozy blanket, a warm mug of tea, and an hour or two of uninterrupted peace.

It's not a long book; but I hope it's one that lingers in your heart long after you've turned the last page.

Inspired by Indigenous storytelling traditions, each tale is told through the eyes of the animals themselves, offering gentle lessons about kindness, courage, respect, and our connection to the natural world.

Here's wishing every book lover a day filled with wonderful stories. ❤️📖

If Silent as the Wild finds its way onto your bookshelf, I hope it becomes one of those books you enjoy revisiting from time to time.
It's only about 45 pages, just enough for a quiet afternoon with a cup of tea, or a bedtime story shared with someone special.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by the devastating Bradley Creek and Quilpituk Creek fires, especially the families along Westside Road, members of OKIB, neighbouring communities, and the incredible firefighters, emergency personnel, and volunteers working around the clock.

Like so many in the Okanagan, we've been watching this unfold with heavy hearts.

Our community has always been strongest when we come together.
Please stay safe, everyone. ❤️

Please consider donating directly to one of the official wildfire relief funds or helping a displaced family in whatever way you can.

Six seconds.
That's all this little beaver gave me.
Just six seconds of him carrying a branch across the lake.
But watching him reminded me why I wrote The Architect, one of the stories in Silent as the Wild.
I wrote a short blog about the real beaver behind the story and included a short excerpt from the book.
