I just read a post about how someone tried to report the summerland fire to 911. 911 was not able to locate the area he was speaking of. 911, I would imagine (but could be wrong), can locate residences and business addresses easier. This appears to have caused a nearly 1 hour delay in getting this fire actioned.

*5555 is for reporting BC Wildfire’s.

Does anyone have knowledge of the difference? It would be good to keep this knowledge going for *5555.

I also would have called 911. I know I’ve seen the signs for *5555. But it’s not (in my opinion) as well known as 911. Which for us in BC, I think it should be.
