Due to high demand, and subsequently, a full workload, there won't be any fitting appointments available for the foreseeable future; my apologies to those who have been waiting hopefully. Additionally, while arthritis is a pretty consistent companion now, I am currently suffering from a multi-point flare up, and can't see being able to bend, even for pant hems, so there won't be any floor level fittings until this resolves a bit. If you request an inseam, an amount to be shortened by, or come with them already pinned, your pant shortening alterations are 30% off (except any additional rush fees) until further notice. The current turnaround for pant hems or small repairs is 3 weeks. Everything else is 4 weeks or longer.

I've caught up a little on the significant amount of work that's come in over the past several weeks, and I'm opening up next week's appointment slots earlier than usual. Please leave next week's evening appointments for formal wear alterations; as it stands, it looks like I can squeeze in some formal wear hemming (gowns, not ball gowns - please be aware of how much fabric is in your hems, as even a circular hem without gathering can have 25 feet of outside fabric to hem), some strap shortening, and some selective size 'tweaking'. Turnaround times for these simple alterations on unembellished fabric (not reembroidered lace, or sequined, b***d, or beaded fabrics) would be three weeks; again, no re-builds - I have no qualms about saying 'no'. Deposits will be required.

Gosh, you like me, you really like me.... Now stop it! Just kidding! It's been a really busy three days which has added to an already overbooked work load. I'm running out of hangers, I'm running out of space to put work, and I'm now booking pant hems for a four week turnaround; now that's unprecedented, so, 'ahem', the shop will be closed to incoming work next week except for some promised early evening appointment slots. Short of placing a bouncer at the door, which seems a little unfriendly, this is the roadblock (temporary though it is) that I have to implement, sorry about that.

Just a reminder of previous posts: I am no longer doing fittings on the hems of multi layer net and tulle 'ballgowns'... the big poofy ones. It is due to a bad back and not being able to stay on the ground that long pinning them. If you wish to have the layers of your 'poofy' dress shortened by a set, even amount, you can make that request ... it won't require a fitting. If you want to see whether I can get your item done within a certain time frame, then a picture of the dress being worn, showing the areas needing fixed, is necessary, or atleast a timeline and description of dress and problem... though I prefer photos as I've had massive problems minimized in verbal descriptions. A fitting slot is not a promise of magic, but it is time best utilized for someone's alteration hopes that will be achievable according to the shop's pre-existing workload.

*** edit... this can also be read as, you have very little chance of getting an appointment slot without that communication. Please don't make us chase you down for information.

If you're looking for a formal wear appointment, one opened up on Thursday this week. Currently, turn-around for anything other than simple pant hems and small repairs is 4-1/2 weeks or longer. Turn around for pant hems or simple repairs is three weeks.

Not that I work on bridal gowns any longer, but I have encountered this again and again with formal wear; "The saleslady said it would only need this.", or "she said it would be easy"; sometimes it's simple ignorance of the facts, sometimes it's that making a sale trumps the truth.
