09/30/2026
September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡
Today is a day to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.
Here in South Eastern Ontario, we are fortunate to be neighbours to Indigenous communities including the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and the Mohawk Community of Akwesasne.
Truth and reconciliation begins with listening and learning. One way to continue that learning is by seeking out Indigenous voices, stories and Indigenous-led cultural experiences throughout the year.
Our Indigenous Experiences page shares opportunities to learn directly from Indigenous artists, cultural educators and experience providers in South Eastern Ontario, from traditional arts and teachings to places dedicated to preserving and sharing Kanien’kehá:ka culture, language and history.
Today, and throughout the year, we encourage you to take the time to listen, learn and deepen your understanding. 🧡
