It's salal season on the north island. These berries dye beautifully and are so good to eat- but you just have to get them at the right day of ripeness. I am making salal vinegar for salad dressings and freezing lots to dye with this winter.

The Bilge Studio will be open this Friday September 4 th from 1-3 pm. Go around to the beach side of The Oceanfront Hotel. There is a large table space for working on projects, sewing machines, a serger, and a felting machine. Stop by and say hi. Everyone welcome.
The studio will be closed for the next 2 weeks. Hoping to open again on September 25 th.

Summer Market on the Patio

Everyone welcome.
There will be 5 tables on the patio but there is room on the sidewalk and along the beach area for others.
Bring your own tables.
Indigo dyed clothes, handmade jewellery, lots of artwork.
Access is from the outside stairs along the building!

The story of this bible began in 1866. It was presented to a newly married couple as a wedding present from their local church in Delft, Netherlands. It is written in an older version of Dutch. When I found it half of it was missing. I bought it for the covers, but when I started really looking at it, I realized what it was, thanks to Google Translate. I salvaged the most important papers and built it as a journal in an accordion format so it would stand on its own. Some pages are covered in tissue paper so you can write on them. I hope someone continues its journey. Write your story or add your artwork. Tie more pages in if you need more room. Let’s continue the journey for another 160 years. I will be at Arts on the Avenue in Ladysmith on Sunday August 23rd with more journals and indigo dyed upcycled clothes. journals. bible

The Bilge Studio will not be having Open Studio on Fridays during the month of June. I am away until July. The studio will still be hosting Twisted Saturday on June 27th from 1:30 until 3 pm. June Cable will be organizing it.
